Default Rainbow to flat rail

Hey guys, you know I`m a major pussy when it comes to hitting rails so I was pretty stoked to metal up and hit this beastie. My first hit, I did not have enough speed to make it to the top, so slid back down feeling kinda stupid. I hike back up and got a better run and rode it all the way to the end and ollied off. All of this was 50//50 the board I was riding has way too agressive an edge to attempt a boardslide. I only had one bad fall and that was about the 5`th ride. I had a littl too much speed and got air off the top of the rainbow and I got out of balance on the landing to the flat rail and the board slipped off and I bange my shins and then knees on the flat rail...that fuggin hurt and I am still sore and bruised. Determined to get right back on, I hit again for another 4 or 5 times and never fell. I even did a 180 ollie off the end on my last one. I know you seasoned park rats will yawn over this, but for me it was a milestone...

Thats a tight setup, good job riding it. Is there a gap inbetween the rails?

No gap, the rainbow overlaps the flat so you just drop onto it.

Looks like a fun as shit rail to hit. Rainbows are so fun, especially really steep ones where its more like a pole jam at first than a rail.

sick wolf! Props on going for it. I have only a few small rails so far and am not to good at em. I have the tendency to slip to one side and either hit my shins on my way off or just have my legs loop out from under me.

Do you have any rail tips?

stand completely on top of your board not leaning one way or another, that's why you're your board is going skanky underneath you. When i hop on the rail i treat it as a new experience, and try to forget about what i know snowboarding wise. When i try to turn or save my ass on the rail like i normally would on snow, i eat it harder. Keep your base flat, and your body centered over it, and you should be all set.

go fast, don't think, and don't fight it.
the slower you go the more time you have to think about what's going on. while I've been learning rails i find i bomb it when i try and speed check. akin to going slower, if i overthink the rail i end up giving it a big hug with my face. if you're going screwey on the rail hop off, if you feel yourself sliding off, slide off.
Respect the rail and do what you can, it's good to push yourself, just be careful.

sorry if that's confusing at all, my brain is fried from work.
