Backseat Front 3's
 
Hey guys! I have always been a big rail kid but i need to up my jump game. Whenever i spin 3's i land very backseat. I have been able to get away with it on smaller 15 footers but now on the 30 footers its really showing its ugly head. My friend said I was ollying instead of popping off both of my feet but when i made sure to do it it didnt help. I even tried to do more of a nollie but i always land backseat. Any advice is appreciated :D

Anticipate the transition. Don't nollie. You obviously no what your doing wrong. Don't keep doing it that way.

Try this. Straight air it. Front 180. Front 360. Right after each other.

Haha i did a nollie as a desperation thing just kinda did it on impulse. i land front 1s fine every time. if i go front one and then in air look over my shoulder will it get me around the last 180?

yes your body will follow your head just make sure you do a slight carve into the jump.

Yes and no. You'll need to wind up harder for the 3. Front 3s are landed with a bit of "feel" and "intuition". Meaning the final 180 is a blind. Your not Nessesarily going to be looking down at your landing coming down from front 3s

Are you adding a little tuck or windup with your leading shoulder when you go for the three? A little wind up helps. Also are you spotting your landing by looking back at the booter or down at the transition you're landing on. Don't forget to use your feet and ankles to help snap you into the spin. Sometimes too much upper body rotary on small spins can throw you off balance. And using more of your feet and ankles will help you from setting too hard an edge as you carve up the kicker. Practice some crisp, flat-ground ones with little upper body rotary and a good knee bend and even pop. Do these at a good speed for a run and then come back and hit the kicker.

A good way to practice getting this down is off the side hit of a jump or just pop off the roller after the jump so you get the feel of it. That way if you bail or land wrong you don’t have to worry about crushing yourself. You need to go back to the small jumps and get this down before you even hit the 15’ jump again.

Yes I do a setup carve into the jump. I think I wind up too hard. So next time im out i will try to use my core to get my spin more in the air instead of a big pre wind because i actually kind of felt like if i spun faster in the air and went 5 i would have landed.

It's even less the core with a 1 or a 3 and more your feet and ankles with a "stable or engaged core". You probably have way too much winding up and carving. Learn ones with all lower body and little upper body rotary, then move to 3s with simply a slight close of your leading shoulder and a slight carve that doesn't bleed your speed "and feels" in your head like maybe you're going straight. (you need to exit the lip straight)

yeah apparently i drift 5-10 feet off the lip of the jump. ill try to keep that to a minimum
