Default Need help with spins

Hey guys,

Every time I go for a spin I always seem to cork my body instead of doing a regular spin and I always land on my butt/back. I'm assuming it's because I pre-spin a bit too hard and more or less punch down with my left arm when I go for a backside spin (I'm regular) but I don't know how to fix my body from getting corked every time. Any suggestions?

Thanks

So you can't land 180s but you go for 720s?

I was just using that as an exaggeration. I can land 180's off jumps, off rails, onto rails, etc, but I can't seem to hit a 3 off a jump

I think I have the same problem when I go for backsides. I found that trying to keep my torso vertical and my head high as I go into the jump helps. Now I don't cork anymore but I'm having trouble getting enough rotation.

Sounds to me like you know the issue already. Avoid punching down with your left arm.

Spin flat, meaning spin parallel to your board and the take-off. The moment you start swinging your body up or down to spin is the moment you start corking your trick.

It's very likely you're relying too much on swinging your body to create spin, whereas you should be relying on your carve to create spin power. Your upper body should only lead the spin and tell it where the power goes, while your carve is what actually makes you spin easily and powers you to spin 360 and beyond.
