I'm cheating on my board for the first time ever this week! I wont get many chances to demo so have to seriously make this count... should I expect the ppl in the demo tent to be pretty clueless or pretty knowledgeable? Thx :)

The should know of which they speak. I find that if you know your stance width and your angles, they will take you seriously, not just some joyrider looking to simply ride something new.

If you are looking to get a good feel for a board, take the time to have them mount up your own bindings on the board. Otherwise you have bindings you don't know on a board you don't know. If you are on your own bindings, you get a true feel for the board and the board alone

Ride a board for at least 6 runs. Every time you get on a different board, you need time to adjust to the "feel" of a different board.

Don't try to ride more than 2 boards, 3 at the most. You will simply get confused and overwhelmed by trying to ride more than that. I never demo more than 2 boards on one day.

Demo even if you are not buying right now. It allows you to have a better knowledge base for what is out there.

ENJOY !!

OMG never mind!!!!!! Appreciate the tips ^^
Just called the resort (no selection - they said the only thing they could put me on was a men's burton flying V) and the local shop (do not demo - anything - ) so looks like there is no point to this thread :crying:

Darn I was really looking forward to seeing what all the forum fuss was about with G-force carves, "lock in" feel etc and on the other hand a board with serious pop and play. I'm gonna be shopping before next season as my board has "stage 5 cancer" as my SO puts it (delaming). WOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Is there a performance rental shop at the hill. Often you do a performance rental and then can change out several boards during the day. Its well worth the expense.

So before doing this, go to a core shop and really look over and discuss boards and pick your top 3 boards you want to try.

And seriously consider advanced/expert level boards...since you will be progressing into a board.

Hard to go wrong with a gnu lady's choice

The real problem is how much joyriding around I can do that is not either 1) directly business related 2) groceries or 3) straight to mountain or marina. (In that order, and the answer is 0. ) I get all my shopping done via Amazon, never stop at the lodge for apres ski, and we even watch church online every week rather than be able to drive there...haha.. It probably sounds ridiculous to most ppl but husband runs a practice out of our home so its work hard / play hard and no time for extras plus when the husband is out and about for client meetings I can't take his time / energy asking him to make stops for me. If you had my life you'd prob do the same thing lol it's awesome but efficiency is key. All the extras get the axe.

I made another thread in the New England forum in regards to finding a place to demo a new board. I found nothing.

So instead, I found a store that had a sale on the board I'd done a lot of research on and bought it. Oh well.

Not sure where in VT you are, but if you're anywhere near Killington, Darkside snowboards probably rents/does demos on some of their "performance" line of snowboards. Though I can't confirm that as I've never asked, just guessing. That's the only place I can really think of.
