Problem going strait?

Hey there! I am fairly new to snow boarding, but recently got down the traversing from heel to toe on blues. There is one problem. I have a very hard time going strait down a hill or even a gradual slope with out catching an edge or something like that. Because of that I tend to slightly heel or toe it then lose speed and have to unbuckle. Any advice? I am using rental equipment they set up.

It's generally accepted that you should always be on one edge or the other, never flat. As you get more experienced you won't have to edge quite so hard, and may be able to ride flat or really close to it. For now, always be turning (even if only a little bit).

Another thing that is important is to be really relaxed and loose, and try not to fight the board. If you are tense or have stiff legs it will be really difficult to ride at low edge angles(i.e. close to flat basing). Being loose and relaxed will help all other aspects of your riding as well. My riding really progressed once I learned the importance of this.
