lol. anywayyy i realized why im having trouble spinning 3's. im getting too psyched up. im going "im gonna spin, im gonna spin, im gonna spin, im gonna holy sh-!" and i spin a 90 and freeze up and refuse to turn my head. i was thinking maybe if i zone out and dont think of anything and right before i spin i close my eyes. would that work or is that completely stupid?

No, don't just close your eyes and spin lol. Its not so much about zoning out, as it is focusing your mind on landing the trick. Visualize it in your head, use some breathing techniques to calm yourself and your halfway there. Another thing that helps is to have someone record you and can later look at the tape and will understand where you are going wrong.

Definitely have the mechanics and feel down before just hucking yourself off a jump; all that will do is get you injured and shatter your confidence. You say you don't like the feeling of having you back downhill, but say you have ones on lock?? Even BS 1s?
You should have both FS and BS 1s on lock before trying 3s. Here's a free lesson that will give you all the necessary mechanics on spinning Snowboard Addiction You should also try spinning 3s off cat tracks and side hits to get comfortable before taking it to jumps. Good luck!!
