Is my stance abnormal?
I ride a 157 reverse camber
boot size of 9.5

I used to have my stance set at 15/-15 with a 23" width. I got this angle from reading around on the forums and other places so i just went with it. At first it worked fine for basic skidded turns and just general calm park riding. now that im starting to carve deeper and go bigger in the park, i find that im waaayy off balance with my stance angles.

So what i did was got in a "sport stance" (like a soccer goalie) and had a friend measure my stance width. Then i played around with my angles until it felt like a could do a deep squat and stay balanced.

I ended up coming out with a binding angle of 18/-18 and a 25" wide stance. I actually felt that i could take it further to 21/-21 and still be perfectly comfortable. This seemed way too wide and wayy too ducked to be right. It rides really comfortable but now im wondering if theres a better method to figuring out my riding stance.

Any opinions or advice? (other than "Whatever works for you")

Bring your tool to the hill and try making adjustments

drop that stance out to 28 width... throw on a tall tee.. and call it a day.

While your stance is pretty wide and angles high depending on your physical make-up this could be appropriate. It is important to know that just as one can limit their range of movement going to narrow the same can be said about going to wide. Sometimes learning better technique might be the way to go and not excessively fidilling with ones gear. At least in this case you have used trial and error to find a comfortable stance which in the end is what is important. As long as it allows you to ride the way that you want to and have fun that is all that matters. If you want to find out more about stance width talk with a kinesiologist about what movements might be hindered by being that wide or in a mirror strap in and try exploring your range of movement and visual see if there are any hang-ups.
