New Board - what to expect?
Beginner rider who's been twice this year for the first time. 4 days of lessons on the first trip and 3 on the second. Very comfortable on blue runs - linking turns fine, starting to carve cleanly rather than skid every turn (low speed), but getting much more comfortable with speed..
Heading out to A-Basin next week on my new GNU CC 163W.. All I have tried before were rentals @ 154cm with cracked edges.. (BTW, I'm 6'2" / 205 with a size 13 boot that dragged on the rentals).
I just strapped on the board on my carpet (I live in Fla so no snow) and notice how much more flexible it seems with barely any movement.
Question is: Do you think it will be easier for me, or more difficult to ride? What should I look out for? I know the Banana / Magnatraction is supposed to help avoid catching edges, but will that be a concern for me?
Any input is welcomed as I would rather not be on my a$$ the whole first day!!
you will be amazed at how much easier the board will turn and/or carve on turns with those nice sharp edges.
It might take a little to get used to it, but with such miminal riding time you may not need much adjusting to the new board.
Sounds like you are enjoying just go out there and have fun.
Thanks guys.. It's what I was looking to hear.. Actually bought a season pass to A-Basin for 11/12 (get to use it next week also) so I plan a good 4 or 5 trips this year..
Hoping the new (and not broken) equipment helps me progress - albeit slowly as I am picking this sport up at the ripe young age of 38....
