Hi, I have been learning to snowboard for over 7 years, I live in az so only a few time a years. I have a few problems I have a horrible habit of falling leaf, staying on my heal edge and not knowing what stance I am. I get off the lift reg but I end up riding switch most of the time. I really like to progress this year any idea's on how to get me moving forward and ride normal and learn to carve.
Thanks Katie Oh also anyone have any suggestion or know anyone that gives instruction in AZ or maybe Big Bear? Last edited by kadence502; 10-10-2011 at 10:06 AM. |

You're not going to want to hear this (or maybe you will?) but the best thing you could do is go snowboarding more often. I used to ski way back when, and I only went 5-6 times a year. Never got very good. Now I snowboard, and I did 40 times last year. My progress has been WAY better, even allowing for snowboarding being easier (once you get past the startup). There's no substiture for hours on the mountain. Also, two days in a row is as effective as three days spread out.

Oh I totally agree!!! I wish I had snow closer so it would be easy to go but we live about 4 hours from snow. Then we have rent a cabin/hotel and find sitters for the kids. It turns into a big pricey ordeal when we do get to go..... I love it and worth all the effort but sadly we can only do few times a season.

Thank you so much!!! I'll have to read and re-read that till we get snow. Actually I meant it to be 520 I was typing too fast...Tucson grew up their but now in PHX. Anyways I have never been to Snowbowl we always go to Sunrise. I love it their, we tend to stay on Apache peak. I'll head over to Cyclone next time.
I am looking forward to trying out Snowbowl this year too. I grew up in Tucson and never tried to snowboard at Mt. Lemmon...seems funny but yes but it is very doable!I appreciate your time! I'll keep ya posted! Oh and hope for lots of snow this year for us here in AZ.
