I was at Baker today, and there was an insane amount of new powder, something like 2feet of fresh. So me being a n00b, I kind of struggled, got better by the end of the day, but oh boy, I was getting stuck left and right. So I was wondering, if I set my bindings a notch or two towards the back of the board to help lift the tip, will it make a HUGE difference in powder days, or will it be a MINIMAL improvement?
What do you guys say, tell me from experience. Because next time, I won't be lazy, and I'll actually move the bindings. ![]() Thank you.

Big difference. If you don't have a true powder board set those bindings back.

I ride a 172 Lib Skunk Ape, it's a big, wide surfboard, It's good in powder, I think the problem is ME, but again, I want to do everything possible to help me get better.

interesting…. I'm 225lbs, and I find myself sinking as well …
look at the tip of that board, always up … hmmmm might have to buy another board … how are shallow tails, on groomers, and non pow conditions… obviously you cant ride switch…

On a groomer you wont even know you are riding a swallowtail. Its big taper that makes a board not want to carve as good.
Minimal taper is needed with a swallowtail + shovel nose. Last edited by ETM; 02-23-2012 at 01:02 AM. |
