How to manage sluff slides

Note that I've been ripped off my board by a sluff slide. Sent tomahawking like a rag doll. It was like getting hit by a bus.

Sluffs are a pita. Had tons of sluffing in the backcountry on Stevens Pass. Something I generally don't see a lot of in Colorado. They can certainly knock you on your ass and even worse, carry you into trees, over cliffs, into holes...
