Shit my mom is going to kill me, I have decided to get into kitesurfing. I found out that I can get a cheap set in Ebay for $300 (not that I have that money at this time) but thank good for plastic . I am also plenty cheap to take lessons fuck that its like $120 to $150 each lesson NO WAYYYY.... but I found plenty of videos in you tube YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. , I am not going to rush into the sport I am going to do my research and slowly get in. First I have to learn to control the damn wakeboard.

With the winds that I have been seeing I think that I might be able to pull this stunt, at least it's cheaper than buying a boat. I might get a trainer kite that way I don't crash the $$$ kite. I will post more as I learn more about the sport.

Dude first thing you need to learn is wind window and kite control. It would be a good idea to invest in a trainer kite besides being fun it is a great learning tool.

Apparebtly there is a difference between a kiteboard and a wakeboard so if you haven't bougHt a wakeboard yet then don't and buy the kiteboard instead assuming that you are going to stick with the kite over the wakeboard.

Also I was the same way about the whole no lessons bit, but I really think that it would help with progression. I am gunna try and take one this year so maybe they can help me with my upwind riding. I can ride down wind no problem on the mountainboard I still need to work on water riding. But I also know how to fly the kite. But the upwind eludes me still.

So what Kind of kite were you looking at, and how big? Personally I own a 04' or 05' 15M Best Yarga. i bought mine the same way your looking to do it because it make no sense to buy a new one for your first kite because your more than likely going to thrash it.

After some research I am to the lesson option. the total course is $360.00 it's divided in 3 lessons and by then you should know what you are doing somewhat. I can also pay as you go 120 a pop for a 2 hour lesson, we will see how it goes and then I might buy the equipment or not.

Kite size no idea, I have to research that too.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it.

Well you really supposed to have a few kites different sizes for different wind conditions essentailly you don't want a 20M kite in 35+ knot winds unless you are one of three things.

1. A behemouth.

2. An highly trained individual.

3. Some one with a death wish.

Three kites is a good way to go but unless you have a fat roll to drop on three kites just aquire them one at a time. Bigger kites in lighter winds and smaller kites in heavier winds.

I am thinking for florida I will need a bigger kite, but I will wait till I get my lessons and see what the instructor says. But like I said before Florida is going into the off season for winds so I don't feel like dumping a whole bunch of money into the sport for no winds.

These winds that we have now are not normal for the time of the year. Another issue with the whole kite sport is that I work and study at night, thats when the good winds roll in, so that might affect me in a negative way too.

Hey Simply, he`s right...get a 3 Meter training kite to play with anywhere you have an open space. Kite control is a lot more challenging that I thought it would be. I have a very innexpensive Slingshot trainer kite that is perfect to learn on. Not talking you out of lessons for sure, but as a supplement I would look at a trainer kite; besides they are fun at the beach!

Plus depending on the wind conditions that trainer kite will give your arms a good work out to. But don't get rediculous, super high winds will kick your ass and a good gust will unexpectedly rip you off therground and then quickly throw you on your ass. I know been there done that.
