Default Two months accommodation in Whistler for 1 person

Hello guys!

I am going to Whistler for two months winter! Will arrive there around 20th January and leave somewhere in the end of March.

During this time I will need some cheap accommodation! As I dont got driving license and I am going to Whistler only for the skiing, I am requiring the accommodation to be either ski in-, ski- out, or walkable distance to lift or bus station.

So the only thing I care about is really the position, I dont care if its luxury or got a hot-tub or whatever. A kitchen would be nice tho. With the position and kitchen solved, I am looking for the absolute cheapest.

What would you recommend?

Also worth saying, I wont be working, since all Work & Holiday visa seems to have run out!

Thanks by advance!

check the pique newspaper for ads they tend to have some medium term accommodation

ski in ski out will cost,

there is good shuttle service so getting something on the bus line is a good idea to save money rather than ski in ski out.

creekside is a little cheaper than the village

Thanks for the quick respond, I will check it out!

Ive now heard that Whistler is pretty expensive, but thing is I can get cheap liftcard there as I am only 18 years old, so it might be better for me than going to another resort.

Just for worth checking, what else resorts are there that offer great skiing and also are cheap?

Whistler is definitely expensive... but most resorts in Canada are. I would imagine you'd be looking at the same sort of issue around Banff, or in the interior. Whistler is probably one of the better "self contained" resorts, in that you can get everything you need in town, and has good transit service. But, it is a bit pricy for groceries, etc. It's easy to get a ride down to squamish once in a while, though.

As for accoms, check pique, craigslist, etc.

See you up there!

I stayed with these for two months last season: Southside Lodge - Whistler Snowboard Tours - Creekside Accommodation

Run by sound local guy (not an absentee landlord) with tons of contacts and info. We were in Creekside House #1 from that site - beside the landlord's house so handy if you need anything from him and also keeps the noise down etc. Shared accommodation, 6 to the apartment in 3 rooms in the one we were in. Stayed with a good group from Japan and initially and then a couple from Oz and a few lads from Britain. Good way to meet people, walking distance to the Creekside Gondola, no bills. Recommended.

They also have another apartment upstairs (Creekside House #2), apartments in the Lodge a few doors down (more expensive, doubt it's what you are looking for if I'm honest) and the hostel (never stayed there, sorry).

You should also keep an eye out in the Pique classifieds on line, and craigslist which EVERYONE here uses for everything.

Alright mate thanks a lot for that info! How long did you stay and what did you pay per month?

I have found another shared living in Alpine Meadow for $1000/month! Is this a good or bad price?

Thanks

I'll leave it to others on whether that's a good price - we've only been looking at year long leases and not shares this time around so I haven't been looked at shared prices, sorry.

We stayed for two months. Sorry, I can't remember exactly how much it was! Somewhere between 1200 and 1500 IIRC and I'm almost sure it was 1500. That's between two people, for a double room, per month, for a 2 month stay.
