Horse opening

Did anyone go out to Kicking Horse for opening? I woke up and decided against it given the temp in Banff was -30 something. Would be interested to hear how the pow was?

So many runs so little time.

Here now....went chair to chair today (save lunch) and it was beyond what I had expected. Hadn't snowed in a week, yet there was a ton of pow(although it's that icy pow). Super cold though....but that made lines seriously non existent. I don't think I've ever seen so few people here.

The mountain does need more snow, you definitely punch through to the willows and rocks on landings.

Thanks for the info. Seems like everywhere needs better temps and more snow. Hopefully there will be some good news this week.

Looks like more snow coming in next weekend. Fingers crossed! I'm at Nakiska Saturday and probably Lake Louise Sunday...

Spent most of the morning lapping the tree's down redemption ridge - got fresh lines every run, thought the snow quality was good. The best it's been anywhere this season so far at least. Did one long run to the bottom, managed to cut to the far right of the mountain (facing downhill) and hit some lovely pillow fields, practically untouched by anyone else that day.

Had a welcome break (out of the cold) for lunch then in the afternoon did a couple of tree laps then back to the bottom again.

Sick day, best day of the season so far me for me at least. Also was my first day with my new K2 UFO's. Super comfortable.

i would agree the best snow of the season so far as well. those pillow poppers to the right of catamount were pretty sweet indeed. Two days of pow was well worth the cold weather. sunday there was literally nobody in line anywhere....ride right to the scan-man before unstrapping.
