What was happening on Sea To Sky highway last night?

Anybody drove from Whistler back to Vancouver last night? Traffic was horrible, not sure what the reason was but cars didn't move for hours and I left the village at 5pm and got to Vancouver at 12:30

Ouch! That's terrible.

I have to ask, why is it called Sea to Sky by the way? Coming from CA, where we go from sea level to 8k for the base of mountains, I was expecting some steep climbs or something like the Loveland pass, by the way the scariest thing I've ever been on. Looks like an arcade when you're looking at it from Loveland.

On the sea to sky I was thinking, sea to barely above sea

Also got caught in that mess.

After getting home late after playing a show downtown Saturday night, and then getting home late last night after that marvelous day of shredtastic wonder, I was lucky enough to get the day off for a change due to weather... so tired I couldn't even make it out of bed to go back for more.

Official cause based on the radio we were listening to - big head on collision near twin bridges. Didn't get why all those cars were inexplicably stopped with emergency services at that one point though. Seemed senseless.

It's not that impressive in that sense since it only gains about 2k ft elevation, but the S2S is more about beauty and where it is and where it goes. It's basically carved out of the side of mountains on the edge of the ocean bluffs. Can't deny how incredible it is. Guess that's where the name comes from. Ocean to being surrounded by mountains in a hurry. The road was pretty crazy 10 years ago and in all the pre-Olympics stuff as mentioned here.

I live my life one storm at a time.
