After collage i'm thinking to go snowboarding for a year or two. I've always figured big bear to be the place, but I'm from Denmark, and my dream isn't exactly to spend two years in a country where i can't drink (i'm 19). So i thought about it, and does anyone know a place in Canada that's similar to big bear? Like, the same type of riders and stuff?

Big Bear? I'm no expert but I hadn't heard of the place. Google tells me there's one in California and another in Pennsylvania. Neither look like places I'd fancy spending a couple of years riding. Places in Canada that I'd love to go to? Whistler (obviously), Revelstoke, Fernie, Kicking Horse in fact just google 'the powder highway'.

Edit: So further reading tells me that the Big Bear in SoCal has a great park and half pipe. Is this what you're looking for? I'm even less informed about great parks but I'd imagine Whistler has a world class one?

big bear just has a lot of history to it. bear mountain/snow summit was home to some big names. the season isn't that long here and the snow isn't great. it's just closest to LA so it gets a ton of traffic and still has lots of talented park rats. no idea about park, but I'd go to B.C. Canada or Niseko Japan.

I'm guessing you saw Big Bear, Ca and that made you think it is in Canada. It's in California. I can't hate on BB since I have had a ton of good days there, but I cannot for the life of me recommend it as a destination mountain. I don't have a recommendation since I have never been to Canada and that seems to be where you wanted to go, but good luck in finding a mountain.

AH he nailed it. Yeah, big bear is in CAlifornia, not Canada.

BB and Snow summit are my local mountains. They would be a HUGE disappointment for you.

Tahoe would be MUCH better. probably 20x more skiable area.
Or park city
Or anywhere in Colorado.
Or hell, mammoth and June are 10x better than big bear and snow summit.

BB is only nice because it's a 2 hour drive from Los Angeles. You can hit the beach and the slopes on the same day.

Big Bear? Weird? If I was going to go anywhere in Cali that wasn't Tahoe area, I would go to Mammoth. Mammoth has tons of history and is known for its park. Big Bear must have a very short season. Weird. I guess that is what you get when kids are raised on the internet. Haha. My guess is he knew Big Bear was in the states because he talked about the drinking age. 19 in BC. I like how that is a big part of him figuring out where to go. haha

Big Bear has real snow. They also make it. Listen to the local guys who say you would be disappointed.
I don't even go there. The runs are short and it's way too crowded. Even the park is crowded. It has a great variety of jibs and boxes but you would get bored after two weekends.
The town is quaint, but you would get bored.

Mammoth has a ton of half pipes, large jumps, jibs, boxes, etc. That's where you'd want to go if you were 21. I'm sure Whistler would work fine for you.
