There's a meter of snow at treeline at Rogers Pass (50cm down at the highway). If you want some early pow turns, check it out. If you aren't familiar with the area.. check their avalanche bulletin, maybe go with someone who is, and stop by the Center there to get some info.
'Grizzly Shoulder' is a treed area right behind the hotel which is generally quite safe and quick to access.
Actually now that I think about it, if you're in Vernon then "The Gorge" is pretty close!! It's popular for backcountry skiing and snowmobiling, just north of Malakwa. (between Revy & Sicamous, west of Eagle Pass)

Cool, maybe me and the b/f can rent some split boards and try that out. I am not interested in going anywhere with avalanche danger though as like I said I have tons of outdoor experience but I have no avy certs or any backcountry exp aside from snowshoeing in the woods.

Revy is great for me but not the spouse, the treed steep runs are a bit tough for him. We went on opening day a couple years ago, I don't recall it being too crowded, maybe it's getting more popular. Nothing I hate more than crowded hills. I have a pass to Silver Star so it's unlikely I will hit Revvy this year unless it opens really early.

Lake Louise has 15cm in the past 12hrs, a 107cm base, and opens TOMORROW - November 5th. (might be SLAMMED but conditions look good)
Sunshine also got 15cm and has a 103cm base, opening November 10th.
-- EDIT --
Sorry I got that wrong.... Louise & Sunshine have 50cm bases. Oh well...

Still, I wish a giant foot would come down and crush these people...

I decided to opt out of going to Alberta as it looked like crap and I don't have all my new gear yet, but if Revvy opens early (meaning before Silver Star) I'll be there...

I'm expecting them to open on the 26th of November, although by the end of this week (the 19th) they will have enough snow too, just probably not ready otherwise (materials, lifts, staff, etc)

Yea, I sent em an email anyways to see what they say. Silver Star is slated for the 24th. Too bad I scheduled an appointment that day, no freshies for me. Duh!

Guessing that's gonna be jammed with people. Thanks for the info though.

How did your friends get up there with that much snow? Supposed to get more snow for next few days too.
