And my memory recalls that it usually takes over an hour to get to the Lake (minimum), due to high traffic in one of the most dangerous routes in Canada. (This is my personal view due to just seeing wayyy too many stupid things being done by drivers.) Everyone seems to slow down to a turtle like pace to get through some less than ideal conditions. Or at least this is how it was last time I was making the drive from Canmore to Kicking Horse in the summer of a couple years ago. (The summer is bad enough, lol) And yeah, I'm complaining over what some might consider 'not much', but to me, I'd rather floor the gas pedal Canmore to SV and get an extra half hour shut eye. You ask why I go to Castle when it's farther than Lake from Canmore? I had to because no college in Canmore. At the moment I may or may not be in school in January. - I'll be in Canmore in a few weeks if I don't. I changed my location from Leth to Canmore because I'm anticipating spending my winter/summer in Canmore then coming back to finish. That and if you're riding a few times a week, piling on an extra hour every day to go to the Lake instead of SV adds up. Time spent learning 'Spanish' or something, lol. Oh-yeah, and doubling your cost of gas. Instead of a $15 gas bill, you're looking at 30. Extra 60 bucks on gas/wk times 4= Suddenly you're spending 250 bucks extra on gas when your monthly salary is about 1500 after taxes. Regardless of knowing other expences of mine, you get the point, lol. Lake Louise is sweet, but if I'm going that far, in my mind I'm keeping the gas pedal busy all the way to Kicking Horse Resort I love this hill!

What I meant was that Castle is one of the best hills around... but they do not have a good park. (same boat as Revy & KH)
Bottom line, if you're looking for quick park access go to Norquay. If you're looking for a really good park, go to Louise. If you want to shred, hit one of the other 3 mountains I mentioned above. That's it, that's all (without going much further). |
