Crazy conditions here at the moment! Looking out my office window and it has been snowing hard all day long. I was at Sunshine on the weekend and Wild West was off the hook. Super steep double blacks with waist deep snow! Tomorrow should be crazy. I think I will be taking the day off work. If they open the dive it will be epic. Strong winds have been loading it with snow all weekend!

Anyone else from AB get out there this weekend?

Actually Nakiska got pounded Monday, I was trying to get out of work this afternoon to head up, but couldn't find anyone to replace me. I hope there's still some snow in the glades this weekend!

Nakiska is heading to a high of 2 Deg each day, and Lake Louise is predicted to have a high of 0 each day. It always seems to be 5-10 deg colder in the mountains!

You heading to Nakiska or one of the "Big Three"? If you're at Nakiska look for a guy in a black jacket and yellow pants bombing runs with a contour Roam on the side of his head or attached to the back of his binding. That's not me... lol

omg lol. yeah i don't think i'll be going to nakiska, i heard it's fairly small. i'm gonna head to sunshine, hit up the park a bit and blast down some groomed runs and i think that'll be it for the season for me...i'd love to do a trip to revelstoke before this season ends but no one seems to have the funds nor the time to go with me so that will probably have to wait until next year

I'd rather go to Nakiska than sunshine any day. Way too many flat areas at sunshine although the park seems decent. Nakiska certainly isn't small, 2400 feet or so. I'm sure on powder days sunshine is great, but when you look at my GPS stats I'm doing WAY more vertical vs. horizontal at Nakiska. I'd rather drive the 20 minutes farther and be at Lake Louise if I'm going all the way past Banff anyway.

Yeah, when I moved out here Nak seemed to have a bad reputation but it's actually a great resort to have 1:10 away from my house.

We're doing another Fernie trip in a couple weeks. GF just had laser eye surgery today (mine was 4 years ago), and we're going to try to hit kicking horse at least once this year. Pretty sure I want all RCR resorts plus lake louise on my season pass next year. That'd be Fernie, Kimberley, Nakiska, Kicking Horse + Lake Louise. I'm betting it'll be about $1300 on pre-season deals which isn't bad.

Newnew why are you not riding again after this weekend? The snow is just getting good now in the rockies. The BC resorts are about to turn to shit. Warm temps here we come!

haha i dont' know, i've been everywhere this season already, and my trip to lake tahoe kind of capped it off. and with the weather being how it is, all rollercoaster in alberta, all i see if slush and gravel. i may have 1 more trip in me but i think i am gassed out for boarding. we'll see how this weekend goes in sunshine. i'm excited but at the same time i feel tired already...you guys ever get that? lol
