aint no one touchin my babies. I gota wax i do it, oh a small gouge? petex where you at, aww dang my edges are too dull to cut a banana pull out that grinder. i recommend everyone do this a starter kit from your local shop aint that much think i got mine for 60 bones a few years back came with an iron, some all temp wax, two sticks of petex, scraper, bit more dont member its good shit though saves me money and i always know what exactly is going on with my board and if temps drop suddenly your always prepared.

Sure, I'll admit it you should have all that stuff & know how to use it.

But did your little $60 kit come with a $6,000-$10,000 base grinder.
If it did I want one too, cause mine didn't come with one.

I've never taken one of my babies in there to have anything done to it.
Not that I wouldn't, I just haven't needed to.
Most of the time I bring in really beat up boards, so they can't really get much worse.

There are tonnes of last years & this years boards out there for cheap.
They might look pretty bad @ first but if all the scratches are shallow, a base grind will make it perfect again.

not to mention base grindin on boards these days will remove the pours designed into the base layer when they are molded to allow your board to hold more wax and run faster on the hills

I don't really see the point in base grinds. Unless you got a scrape going from tip to tail thats not to the core, i mean thats just way to much petex that will never stay in, just in my experience a small scratch from a tree just isnt going to affect your ride that much. a base grind really should just be used to give your board a thorough clean after summer storage so your board will accept the wax easier, and even at that just use a citrus based cleaner and a scotch brite pad your good as new.
