Well just as I predicted, Cypress is charging a fee to use the Air-bag.
I think that's pretty fuckin' cheesy.

*All participants must do a straight air test jump. (this is not included in the numbers above)

Helmets are mandatory.

All participants must sign a waiver to use the Airbag. Tickets can be purchased in Guest Relations.


Does anyone know if other mtn's charging per jump like this?
I searched a little bit, but could only find snowboard camps that had it & they were charging $40 a day unlimited use.

Time to stir the pot on Facebook, see if we can get this bullshit overturned

Good business decision for Cypress since there are people out there with money. Sucks for everyone else. Ah well... Keep crossing my fingers until the snow comes.

Technically true. No company is legally or morally obligated to give away anything. (not strictly true, but the exceptions are nit-picking)

However, being too douchy about charging for every little thing can backfire. You make your customers into active enemies and it'll cost you one way or another. And nothing pisses off a customer faster than the feeling that they're being nickel-and-dimed.

I would hardly call a $999+tax seasons pass free.

Now, I didn't have to pay for mine, but that is irrelevant.

I'm in the category of people who did, & I will fight for my people.

A friend of mine set up a corporate discount. We had to sell 20 seasons passes in order to get the discount though.
It's not really too hard to do because the corporate discount is the cheapest price by far. Hundreds cheaper than even the early bird.

The incentive is, for every 20 you sell you get 1 free.
Broski & I sold more than 100.

I can't afford to pay that, by the end of the season, I bet I'd end up spending upwards of $10k.

Like say running their facilities running the chairs for the year, paying their employees and so on. Your eight this is just a rant and an ill-conceived one at that your lucky they don't charge you to use the terrain park cause they don't need to build that either, but if they didnth peak riders would go to Seymour or grouse so that would be lost revenue and luckily for them this is the only airbag system around so they can charge what they want and people WILL PAY so sorry but no matter how many people you "get riled up" you will not likely win.

Taking the green & blue runs should be pretty expensive, they groom those every night.

And you may eventually be right. Once the novelty wears off and they find the bag sitting idle a lot, they'll change their business model to use it as a loss leader. Or if one of the other mountains gets a bag so that it becomes part of the expected amenities, just like parks. But for now, they've got an exclusive locally, and they're going to milk it for all it's worth.

Got a newsletter from Seymour the other day. It looks like they're really going to get serious about park coverage this year. Pretty stoked, reading this.

This is from the newsletter:

BIG PLANS AND BIGGER AIR - TERRAIN PARK PLANS

Young Guns - XL jump line of 3 tables and the jib line down through the old half pipe. This park will feature many of our large contests. Features will range from L to XL.

Mushroom - More features than ever before. We will be using the old Mushroom zone as well as the new zone from last year. Mushroom will have more features in a row for beginners to progress on. Features will range from S to M.

The Pit - Street style setup. Features will range from M to XL.

Northlands - A top to bottom park run on the new Mystery Peak Express. This park will run through Nut House and then down into Northlands and then into the Pit.

We have some new zones in Nut House, featuring large natural type hits and the landings will be amazing on powder days. The Nut House will have a natural feel with groomed take offs and powder landings. The rest of Northlands park will have jumps and jibs from M to XL.

'Course I'll be concentrating on the S and M features, being neither very good nor suicidal.
