Vancouver 12-13 Season - Page 21 - Snowboarding Forum

Seymour opened yesterday (Friday), and I went up for my first snowboarding session of the season.

The snow is surprisingly good quality, given the shitty late beginning with all the rain and high temps and such. I guess the dumps this week were good and cold enough to give us the good stuff. No mush, no snowcrete, and none of that scritchy sound you get sometimes when the snow's been compressed one too many times.

And the new Mystery chair is fantastic

Although it did stop several times today, I'm not sure if that's because of mechanical issues or because someone fell getting off. Sure does cut down lift and wait times.

Lodge chair is not open, and Pete's Run is not open. I think the Brockton chair was open for part of the day, but I didn't go there.

The website says they'll be opening for night skiing on Monday.

I went up friday for a couple hours and it was an awesome day with bluebird skies!!! lovee the new chair too

Yes the new quad is great! and I was lucky enough to spot Brockton moving today right when it opened and had a couple great little pow runs......it also helped to ease the line up at Mystery.

I think our schedule is going to be Friday evenings and Sundays. Family schedules being what they are, that's kind of a least common denominator.

If we get a break in that though, I'll PM you. Or of course if you're gonna be up there at those times, let me know.

Cool, Sundays is when I will be taking my family too. Maybe see you up there. Some fridays may work for me, prob not this week though as I am going all day and night thurs, gotta get the family time in the day after. Are you a member on The FB page Vancouver Snowboard Club?

If I were you Id seriously bitch at Ride. Ask to speak with the top person available and acknowledge the fact its a 2010 etc, but then simply ask if he thinks its reasonable it should break like that. What did you actually do to make it snap BTW? I cant image snapping a board.

Whats kinda strange is there is a Cronic Taco place across from me and they a bran new Ride board cracked in half hanging on the way as a decoration.

I know it isnt funny...fook.

I gotta say.....Ride is made in China. I bought my GF a Ride board and noticed it said MIC on it...I sold it on CL the same day and ate the loss. My policy is that if there is an alternate I say Fuck made in China. Luckily with snowboards there are lots of other choices.

Actually maybe I will contact them, because I really don't think it sould have snapped that easy.

I was up on Skychair going down glades, well I actually never even got to go down it. I ducted under the rope, traversed across a little bit. Then just as you drop in to that little spot, where you stop to look over the back side of Cypress.
Instead of stopping @ the crest of the hill, I just kept going, I landed 50/50 on a snow ghost.

I didn't land that hard @ all, not enough to make me wipe out & my momentum kept me going over it. So it wasn't a instant stop or anything.

Where it snapped is where the under side of the large ducks wing meets the white background. Perfect split right down the die cut ducks wing.

I'll take a pic when I get home.

Nice find with the other broken one, might be useful info.
I'm going to find out about it. So thank you for that
