Might have been, later in the day. I left just before 2pm. But up to that time, it really wasn't bad. It was far worse last Saturday.

Donutz, you have one of these, don't you?

Should we all jump on the band wagon?

99 is a steal, but I'd wait and get the gopro2 on sale, as soon as the gopro3 establishes itself a little more

I do, and that's a great price. Keep in mind that the Contours have a real problem with the built-in mikes so don't expect to get sound from it. Also contact this guy Launch Helmet Cams Vancouver Canada (he's in North Vancouver) and see if he can match the price. Probably not, but he has all the accessories in stock as well and is pretty helpful.

This year is so much quieter then last year, I've been loving it haha

Had Dad visit for a couple of days, made a little edit from yesterday. Not to exciting riding wise but shows how nice the day was, even if I did have to keep stopping to make sure Dad was following

First time up to Cypress last night. Very impressed with the place in general as well as the quality of snow given the lack of fresh over the past while. Given the small size, it's a pretty cool resort, very easy to get around with some nice open runs with good pitch where you can really open up some nice carves. Not to mention the amazing view on a clear night!

I've never been truly big mountain riding somewhere like Whistler and that, but I gotta shake my head when I hear folks from places like Calgary say "yeah, but these aren't like REAL mountains..."

Really? What hills do you have 15 minutes from downtown that you can shred any day or night of the week, even after working all day? Nevermind that view, yeah. We're spoiled here and we usually know it but sometimes forget.

Riding 3, 4 or 5 times a week usually reminds me

Takes me 35 min from downtown to get to Seymour

The locals are small though. Cypress is ok size-wise but as soon as you go ride anywhere bigger the 'local legs' kick in and you can only do about 2min of riding between breaks lol

Doesn't matter how close they are to your house if they still aren't REAL MOUNTAINS!!!

No seriously guys, I'm going to be in Vancouver for work from Jan 23-28th, we're already doing one day at Seymour and I'm planning on extending my stay for a few days extra.

So the question is, what's the best place to go within a 2.5 or so hour drive of Vancouver on a Sunday to Tuesday? Keeping in mind I ride REAL MOUNTAINS all the time...

I'm debating between Cypress, Whistler and Baker so far. Cypress is cheap and close to Vancouver, and I could book and extra couple days in my hotel for $80.

Whistler obviously is the biggest, but will it be all tracked out? It's also not cheap... although I found accommodations in the village for $130 or so a night.

Baker looks great, tons of snow, cheaper lift tickets, could stay about 15 mins away for $130 a night. Only thing holding me back is the lack of high speed lifts. That's a real downer for me.

So who has the best powder and holds it the longest? Who's got great terrain?

Where should I go so I can come back to the Rocky mountains and tell them all that we don't have the best snowboarding in the world?!? lol
