Might as well start dreaming early.

It's June 23rd and this summer is shit. Let's skip this wimpy summer and give us back the winter.

Booya!

I need new pants. Who makes longer fitting pants, I'm usually a 36x34 in jeans, but have a hard time finding a good pair. I currently have westbeach, but can't find them around anymore.

I'm thinking of purchasing overalls, what do you fellas suggest.

Overalls suck. Super hassle any time you want a break & @ the end of the day.

I have a few pair that will fit you. They're virtually brand new.
No rips, no wear marks, no stains. Just to damn big for me.

Unless you have your mind set on paying 3 or 4 times more?:dunno:

I can send a few pics if your interested?

I picked up the early bird pass to Seymour this year.. My first time buying a season pass, hopefully the job stays as quiet as it's supposed to!

I'm hoping to go up a few nights a week once the night lights are on. I'll be leaving North Burnaby around 6pm, if anyone lives nearby I'm up for giving you a ride anytime.

Surprisingly good day at cypress today. As usual you have to hit small windows to get really good conditions on the locals, and for a first day to the season it was really fun. 30cm of new snow, and at the start it wasnt that heavy. Great season opener, sadly it reminded me how out of snowboard shape im in. Going to the gym doesnt make up for the real thing.

All they've had open so far up till today, has been 1 run on the Eagle chair.

Tomorrow, Sunrise is open for the first time this year. Should be some sweet ridin' if you go off the beaten' path.

I think they want everyone to stay on Collins, so everywhere else should be awesome:cheeky4:

Just gotta be there super early, cause that shits gonna get raped quick.

I can't wait.

It still might not be deep enough for hard carvin' so I don't think I'm bringin' the new Slackcountry yet. Oh, do I want to though.

I guess I'll have to see what this banana is like in the pow, ridden it 2wice so far on chopped to shit hard pack & it's pretty good.
I haven't found anything I don't like about it yet.

Will putting a setback stance on a full rocker board help/hinder or do anything?

TT

But with a rocker and setback it'll feel more like you are waving a banana around in front of you when you ride... with a lib banana even more so :D

I quite like a good banana wave myself. Lean back, swing at the hips, feel the breeze. It just feels right

I hit baker for the first time last year, this season I'm planning to head there lots. It's an amazing mountain. They have a lift called Canucks Express, what more do you need to know?

Given you're posting this thread I assume you live in Van, so you're used to how busy our local mountains and Whis get. Compared to those, Baker is practically abandoned. The day I went there in March last year was epic pow going straight onto the lifts or having minimal wait. Most of the people I know who go to Baker say it is because the lines are shorter. Theres no village, resort or nightlife around baker, theres no reason to go there other than to play in the snow, so it doesn't get as busy as our local mountains do.

As for noob friendliness, maybe average?

Am still blown away with how close Baker is to Vancouver
Same!

It barely takes any longer than getting to Whis but you actually burn less gas because you're just going straight on the freeway instead of up and down hills the whole way along the sea to sky.

Plus you can gas up in Washington or Abbotsford on your way home, saving almost enough money to cover the entire cost of driving to Baker :D

Cool :) I just looked at their map and they have a separate beginner lift with cheaper tickets! I could leave the GF out there and go explore for a bit.

But I just realized I haven't gotten around to buying snow tires for her car, which is now our only car. So this may not be a good idea.

Baker is the shit! I've gone a bunch last year, and yes, you can find amateur stuff, and some pro hills. It's all business there, people go there to ski and board, no tourists grouping on crests taking peace sign photos.

I tried some overalls in the store and didn't like them. In still looking for some long pants. It seems that most brands only make them in 32 inseam. I need a 34/36 minimum.

I think I'll have to get some slim fitting ski pants.

On a side note, I'd suggest you contact some higher ups at cypress and tell them exactly what you just wrote up there. I guarantee you they'll walk backwards for you, maybe not the airbag thing, but at least lift the restrictions. Lots can be achieved if you reach the right people. The staffers at the counter have no power. Go after the big boys. Look em up on linked in, email the head office, I'm sure you can manage.

If I was the CEO of cypress operations and had a guy like you make 100 000$ of business for me, I'd make sure to reward you, but I'm sure it just hasn't reached his desk.

I was up there too. I was talkin' to this little guy.

So you must be papa bear?:dunno: I'm just tryin' to figure out who was shooting the film & possibly put a name to a face.

Are you the cranky old skier guy;) that I stood in front of, blocking his view? lol:laugh:

Well, I have to admit it's cooler than I thought it was going to be.

Which only adds to my frustration with Cypress:mad:

I was told it would only be set up on the weekends & over the holidays.

Weekends are a joke, it's like an hour wait for the chairlift. It was like that yesterday & it will only get worse as we get into the season. I don't think I'll ever go on the weekend again.

My pass has restrictions, which are as follows.
Valid all season, open to close 7 days a week EXCLUDING Dec 26, 2012 to Jan 2 2013 & weekends in Jan & Feb.

Oh yah!! Looks like I won't ever get to use it.

Cypress is the most greedy mountain, that thing should be included with your pass.

I had my camera but didn't have anybody to film me, but I did manage to get a gaper to film one jump.

I thought that too, until they posted a picture of it on Facebook.

It should be the kind that you ride away from.
You should see the people flopping around like turtles on their backs, it's so time consuming.

Not being able to ride it out creates huge waiting times. Even if you wiped out, if the barrier wasn't there it would carry you away from the landing zone so the next guy could go.

This was I think my 2nd or 3rd jump, my last 3 jumps I was able to land & ride right into the big orange barrier. If they had bought one of the ones displayed on Katal's web site, you would be able to ride away.

It's definitely cool, but not near as cool as it should be.

$2 bucks to ride the whole mtn & you will be able to try out the air-bag as well

Well, have I got the answers for you guys then.

SKYCHAIR

Come to Cypress tomorrow, it should only cost you $2 bucks to ride the whole mtn & you will be able to try out the air-bag as well.

Here's how it will go down...

To go on the air-bag you have to buy a ticket. The air-bag ticket is the same ticket as the regular ticket, with the exception of a few extra numbers.

When you buy a ticket for the air-bag, you enter the "paid zone".
Once you're in the paid zone you can go wherever you want.

They don't check for tickets @ the lifts, only @ the gate for the "paid zone",
but you'll have a ticket, a $2 ticket, which entitles you to get in.

So all you poor Seymour bastards, best be gettin' your asses up to Cypress.

Cypress has lots of snow, & Skychair should be open tomorrow. It has only been open ONCE for a few hours. So it's pretty much untouched.
As all you Cypress guys already know SKYCHAIR IS THE SHIT.

Long steep powder runs:eek::D

I don't know how long this will go undetected, but Cypress is the most greedy fuckin' mtn I've ever been to so, THE TIME IS NOW.

If anyone wants to go hit me back, Donutz, Grafta, Kung-pow, I know Cypress real well, you'll get the Golden tour & for $2 bucks I can GUARANTEE this will be the best $2 bucks you ever spent.

Here is a crude scribble of what I'm talkin bout...
Basically once you're in, you're in.

Like any weekend anywhere, it's gonna be a fuckin' zoo up there, so you should try & get there as early as possible.

If anyone comes up there I'm going to be locking 2 snowboards up right outside the rental shop doors with a for sale sign on em & a phone number, Call the number & I should be there in under 10 min.

This will work, I'm so used to sneaking on to mtn's, I tend to catch these things:thumbsup::D
Once I noticed this happening, I tested it myself. @ three different times on 3 different people.
Bought a ticket for the air-bag & purposely hid my seasons pass to see what they were checking for. Just tickets, any tickets, didn't matter what kind as long as it was a ticket.

Hm, I'd rather take you up on the invite when the season is in full swing. I went to Cypress one day last year and I wasn't terribly impressed. I'm pretty sure though that being shown the good stuff by someone who knows where it is would make a big diff.
