Does Cypress usually have some pow left after 1-2 day after a dump? I'm thinkin of goin up there on saturday but not sure if there will be pow left after thursday and friday snow. I usually go to Whistler so I don't know about the pow spots at Cypress.

Anywhere easily accessible, there won't be any or very little. There are places that the average person can't get to, that will still have some. If your better than 90% of the people there, you could have insane pow lines all day. I went last Friday. They didn't get any new snow the night before & everything was pretty tracked out. It was also really busy, but I went in an area marked "Danger Permanently Closed" I had the best day I've ever had, don't think I crossed another track, other than my own all day. If you go by there & peek in & it looks awesome? Trust me, go in there. It's just like it looks @ the top all the way to the bottom. It could very well be, the best day you've had to date TT

The area I'm talking about, isn't technically out of bounds.
It is entirely surrounded by ski runs, as long as you keep going down you will get to a ski run. TT

. Hopefully I can trade the new Dynastar 3800 169 for a 163 . The 69 is a bit bigger than I need. Why did you wanna come play in there? You would still bottom out when you cranked a hard carve, but even the shit underneath wasn't too icy. Still my favorite place to go @ Cypress. I was in there yesterday, it wasn't super good but it wasn't bad. The 15 or so cm they got 2 days ago was still fluffy in there. It's so dark & dingy in there, the sun doesn't make it through the trees so the powder lasts longer than anywhere else ![]() TT

Seymour has closed Mystery Chair today through Thursday for routine maintenance. Described in detail on their website, and it sounds reasonable, but I wonder if they're charging a reduced rate for the 3 days?

Cypress claims to have the largest night skiing in western Canada, as a matter of fact, as well as having great lights. There's lots of trails off the lighted runs that are still good, as well as probably some "closed" runs that would probably still be rideable. I go up there every now and then on a Friday night if there's a hockey game. Get some runs in before and between periods, eat dinner and watch the game in the bar.
The lineups are short when they are there on early Friday eves before they clear right out entirely later on. The crowds tend to favor bright sunny days (even if it's not great conditions otherwise) over snowy days when the snow is fresher and better. The daytime weekend zoo usually starts to clear out later in the afternoon as it gets darker and "cold" ![]() It was almost snowing in New West today. Almost headed up tonight. Might roll in after work tomorrow, and Friday night. We'll see! |

I'm going 2morra.
![]() I'd like to be there for opening, but to get there for 9 from Maple ditch, I'd have to leave about 6:30. If I leave @ 9 I can make it there for just under 10. Yesterday I was there & in my new favorite area, there was 15-25 depending on the elevation. You would bottom out on hard carves but it was still soft underneath the powder. So far today they've got 10cm, which, where I'm going, falls more like 15-20cm If you are fairly good, (if you're not sure, your not ) come 2morra &/or Friday.Come on kids, this will be epic. I was in there yesterday & it was pretty damn good. You would just barely touch the bottom under the pow. There should be close to 30cm more on top of that by 2morra. ![]() Call in sick. ![]() Pack the car up tonight, pretend you're going to work. No one will be the wiser. ![]() TT
