So I'm visiting a friend in Calgary for 7 days from Toronto and decided to check out prices for hotels/ski packages in Banff. Saw a deal for 450 tax in for 4 nights/4 day lift pass with rides to and from the mountain and had to pull the trigger
Anyways main question is, what mountain do you guys recommend for an intermediate rider. I'm guessing I'll be sticking to blue runs, everyone who I talked to has told me that Ontario black diamond runs are not nearly as hard as western Canadian black diamond runs, which is understandable considering in Ontario we ride hills not mountains.
I heard that Lake Louise has a lot of crazy runs and I don't really want to waste a day riding a mountain that I won't enjoy as much as the other ones. Was thinking of sticking to two mountains and get familiar with them instead of trying all three
Let me know what you guys think I should do and if any locals can tell me which mountain would have more blue runs that would be great
Cant wait to get up there...Im booked for a full week at the Springs. I just hope the conditions hold/improve for the next couple weeks until i get there.
The 14 day for Lake Louise looks like snow for 13/14 days, and colder than normal temps (i.e. we'll be getting a nice blanket of that nice fluffy dry stuff we all know and love)
Our neighbour's getting married in banff on Dec 12th and we're boarding at LL all around the wedding. Should be good times!
I'll let you know how the horse is. It'll be my first time there and the facebook pics they've been posting have bordered on NSFW lol  I was hoping to get there tomorrow but the GF works and we've got a Finnish club xmas party. Hopefully it won't be horribly used and abused on Sunday morning!
Racict Fuck - Welcome to Alberta. Sorry you had to have that experience. Glad you were able to shake it off and continue to have a good day. Always amazes me how people can be like that. Ridiculous!
When we left it was snowing heavy and it should snow all week kr so thy say, at the end of the day the runs I started with where pretty much filled in with fresh snow again. End of this week, this weekend should be minty cause if it snows all week and no ones on jt you will have the same as I did yesterday. I don't wanna talk about it
Scratch my last post I'm extending my hotel for an extra day so instead of dicking around in Calgary tomorrow I'm going to lake Louise again even though my legs are mush from riding for 3 days strait!
Took on goats eye today and for the most part the goat won but it was fun, I'll post some picks when I get back to Toronto Friday
"Great conditions". I don't know about that so much. This last week in AB there's been some consistent precipitation, but, things really haven't been "great" since early December. Better season than last year, sure, but definitely not great. Flying in to Calgary ? You may notice there's no snow on the ground and temps have been averaging around +10C all month.
God damn, I've been looking at Lake Louise weather conditions instead of Calgary. Am I going to not be impressed when I hit the slopes? We've had a god awful yeah in Ontario as well
Was at KH last weekend. No rain really on the hill, all just down in the town. Snow was still soft and not hard crust underneath. Don't know what it has done since the weekend.
