I am a local to Red, but even more local to White Water. Red is opening Grey Mountain this year, but no lift. So they are taking nine people up at a time in a smaller cat. It's basically free cat boarding if you have a lift ticket. If you have any questions about the area let me know.

For 2012-13, RED will be shuttling skiers, in groups of nine, to the top of Grey using a new Alpina Sherpa — an oversized snowmobile-bus that has to be seen to be believed.
I’m a season passholder. How much per day to access the snow cat runs? Dave – the pricing is still be finalized. This will be above and beyond a season passholder’s priviledges cause it isn’t associated with a fixed asset such as the lift systems. For those looking for a ride up, there will be a nominal fee for the slackcountry cat skiing. Please stay tuned. TT

another question for locals, what has been your experience flying into Trail airport? it might cost a bit more to fly from Vancouver versus driving, (or driving from Washington), to me the time savings and white knuckle mountain driving might be worth the flight.
(a couple years ago we were stuck in Revy for 10hours due to highway closers for avy clearing, missed flights in kelowna, etc. .... major pain in the ass) |

Last year White Water killed Red as far as powder goes. I did 5 days at Red and the main chair is always a retarded long wait. Paradise chair often closed for wind conditions. Red is a bigger hill over all and had the better park for sure, but if you want consistent pow pow, awesome slack country and amazing food White is where it's at.
