The rest of this week looks like garbage, no real snow in the forecast and everyday is -20 in the mountains...I think I'll wait until the weekend to try and get out, it's supposed to warm up a little and maybe some snow on Saturday

Just got back from Sunshine. Very good conditions and no one was there. We were one of the first groups to get into wild west. Great snow in there and in the dive! No for some turkey!

I was telling my GF we should have been out today instead of staying in like the rest of society. I imagine it would have been a good time at almost any hill!

I'm heading to Nakiska in the morning. Not expecting much conditions wise, but the neighbour has a free pass to use up and I have a seasons pass so I'm going to go work on my carving.

Tomorrow will be ok as well. The 27th is usually the busiest day of the season so stay at home on that day!

Yeah I was at LL last boxing day, great riding all day with not bad lift lines. Made last chair at 4:00 and when I got to the bottom I realized my keys were now somewhere on the hill...

Ended up staying at the hostel and getting a guy to come make a key for me the next day. When I got the the hill around 9:00 am the line to get tickets was around the building!!! Who would want to pay all that to stand in line for tickets, lifts, etc.

I just booked a couple days in Fernie, Dec 29th to 31st. We'll be boarding on the 30th and 31st so here's to hoping the lift lines aren't bad. Great thing about Fernie is if one side is bad I'll head for the whitepass quad, polar peak, or something else...

Yeah I'm stoked!

Boarded today at Nakiska. Actually not bad conditions. The groomers off the Silver chair (specifically under the chair and to skiers left one run) were the best for snow. Hit the upper mountain which is my usual domain but with the Easterly slopes getting very little sun it was actually much better on the bottom half today.

Had some great carving runs, basically no powder to speak of (save for a very low travelled off-piste kinda run I take to get back to the top of the silver chair), but the groomers were great for working on carving.

NOBODY at the hill... Never waited for a chair and half of them were empty!

Fingers crossed for the same thing at Fernie. At the very least the snow will still be great. So much snow fell there last week I should still be able to find untouched powder in some of my "secret stashes" lol

Avoided the hang overs and went to louise today. Sitting at powder keg ATM. Not busy at all. Great blue bird day.

Unfortunately everything is hard packed or icy. I been doing nothing but practicing carving and icy moguls. Do not go into rock gardens unless you like rocks on your board. Going to try front side after lunch. I'd say it will take another dump before conditions are good again.

Also did my first jib today... Accidentally went into skoki lodge road. Went on the shoulder and saw a bunch of road blocks too late. Had to jib them. Luckily I was going at a good clip and the concrete had snow on them. Pure luck for the win.

So it dumped 60cm on Louise and Sunshine since then. No new snow in the forecast. Where do you think the best conditions will remain by Tuesday?

PS. New to the board and appreciate the tips and updates have found already.

Is it worth spending 500 to get the beacon, shovel and probe for these 2 runs? Are they really that good?
