Ends today!

I just bought my super passes again. Came to $1321.95 each... Certainly a lot of money but that pass includes Kicking Horse, Fernie, Kimberley, Nakiska, and Lake Louise... :yahoo:

Can't wait for 2013/2014!!!

Such a tempting deal. I'm a big fan of Fernie and KH, and was tempted to get the super pass but that would have meant replacing SSV with Lake Louise all season and I fall on the SSV side of the "who's better" debate.

SSV pass plus Lake Louise and RCR card for this guy.

Here's what my $1300 gets me! If you add up the area it's something like 15000 acres of available terrain... You've got to make it out my way this winter! Maybe a "Vancouver Area SBF.com skis Alberta" trip?!? :yahoo:

Fernie (3500 vertical feet):

Kimberley (2400 vertical feet):

Nakiska (2500 vertical feet): (with another expansion planned soon, extending up to the top right of this pic)

Kicking Horse (4100 vertical feet): (no good pic of the whole resort)

And Lake Louise (3200 vertical feet): (again, no way to get the whole thing in one pic! this is the front)

Lake Louise Back (can't really see the larch area):

HOLY SHIT!!! $2600+ for two passes? Im just curious, how much is a day lift ticket at those places? That, and how many days riding do you figure to get on the pass? (...of course, compared to what we've got to choose from in MI, the average $500-$700 price for passes here seems like a TOTAL rippoff!)

Day lift tickets are $75-95 or so... Costco has passes for $60-65 each day and there are also "ski more cards" which work out to about $55 a day I think.

I boarded 33 days on my pass this year, and 3 in the Vancouver area. So $1300/33= less than $40 a day. To me if you want to get the best value for your dollar, you'd probably just buy a Lake Louise pass for $650 or so. But I'd get bored at the one hill.

Also, if you'll go less than 25 times it's not worth the pass we get. It's certainly not "cheap" to board here, but the quality is there. It's the best place I've ever boarded in the world! (that includes VT, NH, ON, PQ, BC, AB and NY)

Damn!!! No doubt the scenery and terrain you get to ride on is worth WAY more than what I'm getting for my money here! Goes without saying!

I just did the math,.. (...sorry Leo, DaveZ! I know u guys said "Never do the math!"). To get the 48 days I put in last season, if I only paid the crummy little local hill day rate of $35, my seasons lift tickets would have set me back over $1600!!!!!!! ...and I have more than 15-20 of those days at the northern resort which charges a LOT more!!!!!

No wunder I'm flat F'ing broke!!!
What I'm saying is,.. all of the sudden, your $1300 passes r looking like a REAL steal to me about now!!!!! ;) (...I knew there was a good reason I hated math!!! :D ;)

yeah it seems crazy at first, but when I look at Blue Mountain in Ontario where a season pass is $700 or so, $1300 for most of the good resorts in the Canadian Rockies isn't horrible!

Anyway, I'm likely patrolling Nakiska or Louise next season, and I'll earn a bunch of credits which I can apply to a family pass for the 2014/2015 season. Hopefully through volunteer patrolling I'll never have to pay for boarding again!!! :yahoo:

The way I see that price - it's a sick deal. Even if it's just a bunch of decent resorts and no real knockout killers, still good.

My full deal pass to Cypress on the early rate was like $700 and I'm thinking of a Whistler pass as well ($1400). Nevermind if I go to Baker or anywhere else at all...

I'd be down to try to make it out there this winter depending on work.

Sounds good! Last year I boarded with more forum members, and more people in general than ever before, and had a great year!

That's the thing with this pass, I'd say Fernie, Lake Louise and Kicking Horse are all top notch resorts with enough of every type of terrain to keep almost anybody happy. Kimberley is decent but has some glaring issues to be great (poor lift system design, not enough snow when I've been there). Nakiska is good, and with an expansion will be even better. They just don't get the snow that the others get. Still they have good snowmaking and grooming, and tend to be open first or close to it every year.

Having several resorts in various spots helps a lot with all the microclimates that they may receive. I often just end up going where the best snow is. Usually that just means Whistler, though...

Hell, pretty much the only riding I did that wasn't solo was with forum members. I'm stoked for next year. Just picked up a whack of rad outerwear and a 180 cm Lib Birdman :D on a steal... will have to head out there to test the warmth on the 686 jacket.
