Views of the local North Shore mountains today confirm that the ski season is not far away. With over 15cm of snow over the past 24 hours and more snow in the forecast, Mt Seymour Resort is eager in its final preparations to open once sufficient snow levels are reached. As the anticipation grows, satisfaction can be assured through a few great events guaranteed to happen this weekend whether the resort is able to officially open or not. Check the website
or call the snowphone at 604-986-2261 for daily updates.
Thanks to Mother Nature thus far, we have enough of the pristine white stuff to host The Rome SDS 5th Annual Premature Jibulation event this coming Saturday, December 13th. A great spectator affair, the Rome Pre-Jib is an open jib event for local shredders to get excited and warmed up before the official start to the season.
Check out event details below.
Both Saturday from 9am - 4pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm, the resort's Elevations 1020m Restaurant will be open to the public. Stop by for lunch and a beverage as you check out the Rome SDS event or if you're simply interested in seeing our winter wonderland with spectacular views of the city. The expected weather forecast for this weekend of clear cool skies mean some of the best viewing experiences to be had. Be sure to bring your camera!
Also this Saturday, the Snowshoe Adventure Centre will be offering their Discovery Snowshoe Tour at 1:30pm. This two hour tour explores the magic of the snowy forest trails as you learn about the wonders of nature from your interpretive snowshoe guide. There is no need to pre-book, just show up at least 15 minutes before to get setup. The tour is open to all abilities and the fee includes snowshoe rentals, your guide, trail pass and a hot beverage. Visit our website for more tour details.
For those eager to strap on the skis or boards and ride the lifts, stay tuned! Once we have enough snow we will be opening. Keep a daily watch on the website or call our snowphone for details. See you on the snow!
