Is Verbier worth a visit?

I have the opportunity to stay in accommodations in Verbier that are right near the Medran gondola. I don't usually do ski in/ski out accommodations, but my wife is very intrigued, and the happier she can be snowboarding, the more opportunity I can open up to future trips.

My main concern is the snow naturally, I read Verbier only received 3.3m of snowfall. Im addicted to pow and she would prefer some pow to fall on as she is still a beginner. Any experience with snow conditions at Verbier, is it down to luck when dumps happen?

I also am trying to decide on when to do this, I have opening for January or late March, snow and crowds are a concern. I'm not familiar with european holidays. If the snow isn't constantly dumping, I had a thought about spring like conditions in March, might be bluebird, warmer and a bit softer? I'd prefer to steer clear of ice, I've had my fill back home.

Cool Verbier

HI,
We had a late start to the winter but since December we have not had an issue with the lack of snow, if fact its snowing as I reply to this blog.

Have a look on the webcams on verbier(dot)com

Ski in - Just check the actual location as Verbier town is not that big to worry about ski in

Verbier is beautiful, the only downfall is the cost of accommodation and you have that covered already. Overall Switzerland is more expensive than other countries you hit the alps in. I would not pass up the chance to go and I would probably take the late March date.

Accom gets cheaper out of peak weeks (ie Jan). (check what events are on ie Xtreme Ski/Snowboard, Polaris Festival, kids half term etc) and book the low weeks.
Also be cheeky and make an offer on the accom, rather than the book price, if they are not busy you might get a deal.

There are some deals around town to help save the $'s (cheaper ski pass, cheaper ski hire etc).

great to hear the season hasn't actually ended yet! hope you guys are enjoying.

the tips are much appreciated in making a decision.

another question I had, i'd have to fly in to either milan or zurich. i know geneva is by far the easier airport to arrive in, but because of work those are my only two options. they seem just about equal distance but curious if anyone familiar with which is easier? any transfer that would be a hassle with board bags? or since euro rails are superior to usa, i probably can't go wrong with either one?

or should i just rent a car?
