Height 5' 4"
Weight 130 lbs
Binding angles +15/-12
Rode with Raiden Eris binding and K2 Contour boots. May switch to Nikita bindings if it feels right.
Had the board tuned with wax and edges before riding (it was in factory condition)
West Coast Snow conditions today were mixed, soft to icy with some crusty bits inbetween. I rode groomers and searched for natural features to pop off.
Only got a couple of laps in before work today, but I thought Id make a start as there isnt much about Smokin on here. I will add in some more thoughts as i ride some more.
I have never ridden an asymetrical board, and found this one to be, well less work. I didn't know what it would mean to have the two different sidecuts and Its not super noticable but I feel like on a full day riding my body will be less tired.
The board itself if a 6 flex but is softer than my NS and Stepchild and was a lot of fun. I had to wonder what it would be like on ice...
It held surprisingly well on the icy patches I came across and i quickly trusted i would not wash out.
I felt stable on this board and I did not feel any squirreliness when flatlining at moderte speed. Will push harder in future to see what the limits are, and believe me I want to on this board :-)
The hybrid camber on this board feels on the mellow side, in comparison my NS you could use as "spin the bottle" as the reverse camber is quite pronounced. As i took a chance and bought this board online, and had never seen it, i was pretty pleased not to be buying another board that is the same.
Switch riding was easy and i didn't have any issues.
Still yet to carve, ride some pow and get a few laps in the park to know if this is "the one" but I have a good feeling! Essentially once i strapped into this board, it felt like my favourite jeans, broken in and part of me.
