so im looking to pick up a new never summer board soon and I was set on the 152 proto ctx but now im considering a 155 revolver too...im 6'3 180ish with a size 13 boot and I ride a 155w flow quantum right now with a 26.1 cm waist width with no problems at all with heel/toe drag

the 152 proto ctx has a 25.8 cm waist and 1200 mm effective edge

the 155 revolver has a 26.1 cm waist and 1220 mm effective edge

...my reasoning with leaning towards the proto right now is that I spend most of my time in the park here in NC unfortunately...but I feel that if I get the 152 it would be a perfect combination of being short enough to whip around on the rails and jibs yet strong enough to hit huge jumps and still bomb it all-mountain when I get the chance

...my reasoning with considering the 155 revolver is that I do spend most of my time in the park and it is considered more of a park board than the proto is...I know the revolver would be fun but im worried it will be too noodely for charging around the mountain and hitting big jumps especially since im big

so now im still leaning proto but idk?! :dunno:

If your actually doing BIG jumps, I'd say the proto, but considering east coast style riding, mostly park, if big jumps to you is 30 footers, i'm sure the revo would be fine.

152 is such a small board for a big guy with a big foot. I'd go 155 revolver or 154 ctx. You will over power the 152.
the next size up on the ctx is the 155....my logic with the 152 on the ctx is that its a little bit stiffer board, I mostly ride in the park here in NC, and ive heard it rides a couple sizes bigger than it really is because of the blunted tips and effective edge

idk if thats the best logic though? :dunno:

I'm not exactly a board sizing guru, but I'm shorter and lighter than you and wouldn't go for the 152.

5'11 175lbs, size 11.5 - looking at the 154 CT / 155 CTX (likewise for Evo / Revolver).

They so say these boards ride big due to the effective edge, so it 'might' be something you can get away with. Still, you being 6'3 makes a 152 seem awfully small.

The Protoctx has a medium flex. Even with the longer effective edge, I think the 152 is too small for you because of your weight. I ride a 152 proto ct and I weigh 145 lbs. My friends who are about your weight ride a 157 proto.

I work at a demo shop full of high end boards and I would start you out on a 155 proto ctx if you walked through the door. hth

152 ctx is too small for your weight. I ride the 152 ct and I weigh 145lbs. I work at a demo shop with most of the ns boards and I would put you on a 155 ctx w/o hesitation.

sounds like 155 ctx would be better I just was worried because I already ride a 155w that has more flex so I didnt wanna lose too much playfulness in the park

I'm also deciding between the 2, but i am leaning toward the proto. It is sold out EVERYWHERE though so i might just go with the revolver. But the revolver has a little more flex so im not sure if it would hold an edge or stability on hard pack or ice on the east coast..any suggestions?
