2013 Burton Cartel

About 3 weeks ago was the first time I bought my own gear. I didn't know much about bindings but I knew the cartels were good for all mountain riding. My third day out the ratchet on the bigger strap of my left foot locked up. Other than that problem I like the bindings, but has anyone had any problems with the high backs breaking off because of the two small connections and the screw in the middle. I can't and don't want to return them because they are good bindings, but are there any ways I can reinforce the high backs.

when you say the rachet locked up, did it break or were you able to unjam it?

I know the highbacks *seem* flimsy but they're really not....

I love the cartels!!!!

It locked up and wouldn't release I had to jam a screwdriver into the release to get it off. But I got some new parts from burton.

Becca is right, In the past I have been terrible at looking after my gear (all second hand stuff) the only thing I didn't damage or break were my Cartels. These things fell off my car attached to my old heavy board, bashed about in the back of my 4x4 and took a beating while I tried to learn jumps and basic park. Not a crack!!!

I have just bought some new ones (wanted to try the EST with my new Antler) and saw a video of the burton testing labs with them freezing them and beating them with some machine hammer thing. I will try and find it, but sure you will be just fine!!
