Seems like every year as soon as the lifts stop spinning we get a nice dump, no exception this year. Started snowing yesterday morning and is just now letting up. Around a foot in the parking lot (6000ft), and in traditional bridger fashion as you climb closer to the ridge the snow just gets deeper and deeper. I skinned to the top the the pierres knob lift (7400ft) and the snow was three feet deep. Temps were around 20 for most of the storm and the snow was pretty light, a pit and ski cuts showed a good bond with old snow and the storm snow was unconsolidated with no slab. The ridge protects the mid to upper mountain from wind so conditions were the same on all aspects. The dog and i took two laps cruising through knee deep snow. Had to ride the skin track through the lower mountain to keep speed the snow was that deep. I need a 2nd split, something longer than my 159, for days like this.

Im heading back tomorrow and will bring the camera, and find some steeper terrain to ride.

Though i never skinned at all, i agree that once the lifts stops turning here at Red lodge you get a good dump. I checked the webcam this morning and i saw a guy skinning towards Face of M and probably up to lazy M for some laps. I might try skinning someday to know what is like and get some turns myself. goodluck tomorrow and be careful.

i've got an extra split set up (board binding skins poles avy gear ect), if you are ever in the bozeman area and want to try it out.

I'll be through red lodge in may/june to do road laps on the rock creek head wall. Beartooth pass is a must for summer shreding.

Thanks, i did went to Beartooth last year to ride down on the ski run they have up there and it was fun, though that poma lift kicked my ass! i think that freaking lift wore me down just trying to ride it. if they have more snow again up there i will definitely do it again.

back to bridger this afternoon with a couple guys from spark. Skinned to the ridge with the plans to head north on the ridge, but as we approached the weather rolled in and so we took a more direct route off the ridge called sluice box and then through north bowl. Light was really bad so no pictures two of the guys had yo bros so i'll try to get the video.

here is the gps track of the trip

I just received a ringing endorsement for bridger last night from another cub scout dad. How's the snow in febuarary? is there a better site to buy a package from than bridgerbowl.com?

Things will be filled in by February, probably an average month for snowfall.

package deals, i assume you looking for lodging and lift tickets. I think the places in town work through bridger. $48 tickets are a good deal as it is. Its not a resort so you are staying in town and driving up to the hill. Your other option in the area is Big Sky resort which has $99 day tickets but they will give you a deal on lodging.

When it get closer pm me i'll let you know whats skiing well areas/food to hit.

Right on. I'm hoping to plan it when they have the kids camp so I can just drop them off in the morning and then ride all day with mom. Seems pretty cheap for a 3 day 4 night deal. So they don't really have any ride in ride out lodging? Looked like all the hotels were offsite. I was a bit rushed when scoping it out this afternoon.

Bridger is not a resort, there are a small number of condos near the base are and vrbos in the canyon. All hotels are in bozeman 16 miles down the road. No ski in ski out options. The terrain is for real, but its a ski area not a resort.

Cassmt, those pictures are of last spring after closing.
