Hey everybody, I've been looking to get a new all mountain board for intermediate to advance riding and every store I go to seems to be suggesting something different. I tend to do a lot of resort riding where I can hit the side hits or go up to the bowls and only go to the park sometimes. I was wondering if anyone had any insights on what they thought was best. The boards I've been recommended are:
-Burton custom camber
-Ride algorythm
-Capita mercury
-Arbor Coda camber
I am open to other ideas too, these are just a few I've been recommended and was leaning towards. For reference I'm 170 lbs and have a size 11 boot. Thanks for any advice that is given!

I’ve been in Mammoth for the past 2-3 weeks, with two massive storms, wind… lots of pow, then wind blown firm conditions with pow stashes in the trees. And my Bataleon has been my go-to.

Mostly stick to in-bounds stuff, mainly blacks, bowls, trees, nothing too gnarly.

The Thunder has been excellent, and is the board I’m reaching for the most. Can charge anything. 3BT lets me get away with murder on bumps and chunder. Have had sketchy landings where would have ate shit on other boards, can 3BT can save me. On deep carves, it does feel lacking, especially compared to the Amplid. But still very fun to carve on.

Also have a Surfari with me, and while that board is excellent in pow and in a carve… it’s quite a lot of work imo. (Especially compared to the Bataleon where I can just point it and charge it)

I don’t think 3BT is for everyone… so best if you can demo one!

Awesome! I just looked up the thunder and definitely seems very cool. I'll have to see if I can demo it anywhere. I've been trying to find good places to demo up at copper or winter park, but the places seem lacking in options to try (it's also hard to even get an idea of what they have even when calling them). I appreciate the reply and will definitely look into bataleon some more!

The classifications of what's beginner, intermediate, and advanced are mostly arbitrary.

There's plenty of advanced riders riding a so-called beginner board and vice versa.
There's additional questions about your intended use:
How stiff do you want the flex?
Do you intend to ride switch often (or at all)?
How much powder do you intend to ride vs groomers?
How much do you want to spend?
Are you set on Burton's Channel binding mounting system? Or prefer the usual 4-bolt mount?

There's a million different possibilities of "what is the best board" for your needs... so if the mountain you visit does demos, then you can test ride some boards the ski mountain store has.

A snowboard store will only recommend the products they carry.

And look at Youtube for some opinionated snowboard reviews

Thanks for the response! For how stiff, I was looking at around a 6 or 7 to keep it pretty all mountain. I ride switch some. Maybe 10-20% of the time. I will mostly be on groomers with going on powder only sometimes. In terms of spending I would say up to $700 but that is going to be pushing it. I don't care if it is channel or not, just happened that the custom was recommended to me.

Now y'all got me looking at 3BT boards and my Surfari still has the stickers on it. I gotta stop coming here.

Hahaha yeah, my list of boards to look into is only growing. I thought it was going to shrink 🥲. But having so many options is exciting to see that there is a lot of great competition in the market!
Ill toss in these:

Salomon Super 8 (people sleep on this board but it charges hard, snaps well, and will float)
Rome Ravine (haven't ridden it but seems similar to the super 8. I'd like to try it)

Definitely one of the more underrated boards out there, if you're not a park rat it'll do anything you ask of it, and if you're actually a good park rat it won't hinder you there either hah. Width will be spot on for the OP as well. I should nab the pro version but I really don't need more boards!

I have the Mt.Bachelor edition. Which is my home mountain. I feel extra special riding it there lol. I do wish I had the version with sintered base though.

They've always been sintered I'm fairly sure. We have the Mt Bachelor version in our rental fleet and that's definitely sintered.

You might be right. I have a 2020. I swear mine doesn’t but internet says it does. Has “area51 finish” I searched so hard in 2021 to find the 2020 bachelor northern drink wear version. Ended up having to buy a demo model.
