I’m looking for a freestyle all mountain board. I like the idea of cam rock (with mellow rocker, just that hint of forgiveness).

I love Burton’s channel, but none of their boards really offer this profile, I don’t think (though I suppose PurePop is close?).

Enter the Endeavor Pioneer. Seems like a match made in heaven, but I’m a little apprehensive since there’s so little information available about these boards.

Has anyone around here used one of these in recent years? Any sentiments about Endeavor?

Should I just get a Solomon Assassin instead?

The Burton Process looks pretty similar in specs and profile to the EP.
Purepop Camber is flat to camber to flat which is great for slight forgiveness/ less edge catches with butters/ground spins (I learned ground tricks on the Name Dropper and can do it on regular camber without any issue), and still grips really well in icy conditions and has great pop for ollies. Burton's Purepop Camber boards are twin (not directional twin) and they aren't geared for powder but ride all-mountain pretty well.

Endeavor does a 50% off their website sometime over summer.

Was a super deal last year when a Pioneer could be had for $250 and an Archetype for $275.

However, they raised their prices on all their boards by at least $90 this year. With the Scout getting a $140 bump. (The Scout last offseason for $225 was a steal).

So maybe less of a deal this year… but still solid especially if can nab at 50% off

Don’t know if I misread you, but all Endeavor boards use Burton’s channel system.

Endeavors are good quality boards at a good price. I ride the BOD.
I worded it a little awkwardly. I was saying that Burton doesn't seem to have a "camrock" option. I became interested in Endeavor because they use the channel :)

No affiliation with the shop, just trying to be helpful here...
Corbetts has the Pioneer for 40% off right now (unless you want the 154). I have nothing but great things to say about that shop.
Lol, the 154 is out of stock because I ordered the last one... then I cancelled the order because I got cold feet. I'll probably order it again... or wait for Endeavor's 50% off sale and save a few more bucks...

Oof, those prices would have made it an absolute no brainer. But even at $400 it seems like a solid deal — I just wish there were more opinions to chew on about the Pioneer specifically.

Yeah, I humm and hawed a lot considering a scout last summer. It was a freakin' steal indeed... but there's a point where need/want/money/priorities need to align before a make a purchase and that wasn't it.

I think I'm gonna go for the Pioneer. Ticks too many boxes for me to pass it up.

Any opinions on size? I'm 170 lbs, 5'11 with 8.5 boots (Photon Step On). I struggle with this for every board because my weight usually suits a 154 or 156 (or equivalent). I gravitate towards more nimbleness, but I run a wide-ass stance with a ton of angle on my front foot (24" 25 deg/-15deg). Might experiment with this a bit next year, but that front foot angle alleviates a huge pain point for me on my right foot, and the width just feels natural for me with those angles.

The angle makes my 8.5 boots effectively smaller, and with these Endeavor boards being slightly on the wider side, I worry that the 156 will be too cumbersome for me... but I also feel like my stance eats up too much nose/tail on shorter boards — and something I really want to progress on is butter-ish tricks.

Sorry, I know I'm way overthinking everything and I'm sure either would be fine... It's just my nature to find a way to paralyze myself on these decisions :p

Thoughts?

As you said, both will be fine.
I'd have bought the 156 myself at 190lbs, 9.5us boots with a 24" stance. However, I ride a small mountain and do a LOT of park so...

Endeavor designs great board profiles/shapes. Canadian company with off-shore manufacturing (China).

I had the Ranger when it was a true twin. Great all mountain freestyle flex and profile. Quiver killer type board.

However, I found the top sheet to be weak as mine developed hairline cracks in the nose. Also the channel never really added any noticeable benefits for me and having to constantly tighten the screws (or worry about them loosening) made it a huge negative. For these reasons I got rid of the board but Ive been looking for something that rides like the Ranger ever since. Current Ranger is out because of the channel and change to directional twin (top sheets look improved/addressed but I can't say for sure).

Interesting! Sorry to hear about your experience 😑

I've had three Burton channel boards (not including the Revelation board I had back in the early 00's), and never had a problem with the inserts coming loose. I'd tighten them up every so often, but I'd do that with traditional inserts too. I don't typically get a ton of days on the mountain, though, so that could be a factor.

I wonder if Endeavor's version is somehow less reliable.

The top sheet issue sounds shitty too. They do mention something about newer top sheet construction, so maybe it's better now, but guess I'll keep an eye out for that if I take the plunge.

Thanks for the input mate!

Lots of boards develop hairline cracks in the topsheet. It happened on all the boards with shiny clearcoat (as opposed to matte) I owned in the last 30+ years no matter the brand (from.Burton to Salomon and others). In my cases it was never more than cosmetic although I get how it can bother some people.
