Anyone been to Heavenly yet?

Just got up to South Tahoe today and saw that Heavenly only has 2 runs open but lift tix are still $88! I heard Kirkwood has better snow right now. I think they open tomorrow.
Anyways just wanted to see if anyone has been to Heavenly yet this season or maybe North Star and how it was.
Also how's Kirkwood? I've been to Heavenly, North Star and Sqaw several times, bit never Kirkwood.

I went to Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood last season and Kirkwood was by far my favorite. Once you go to Kirkwood, you wont want to go to Heavenly or Northstar again.
I was at Northstar yesterday, which has more open right than Heavenly IIRC, and no, it is NOT worth $88 unless you've got cash to burn and time to kill.
Ill be in that area on december 6th. Hoping that the storms predicted for the wasatch hit that area first.
We've decided to hit up Kirkwood tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes,
So yeah only Chair 5 was open and one run. Snow was whatever, but on the plus side the place was petty empty so got mad runs in.
long run - or repeating the same 1 minute bit?
Overheard some tourist at Loveland today complaining about paying $92 for a lift ticket at Vail yesterday.

Yeah basically just a short run

Went to Heavenly today and the ticket was still $90 even tho there was only two lifts open. But atleast the runs were super long and the snow was nice.
My take on those resorts:

Heavenly - Don't go unless ALL of your friends are skiers. It's flat as hell, where it's not flat, it's moguls from hell.

Northstar - One of the closer resorts to SF/Bay Area, making it perfect for day trips. But for the same reason, it's packed every Saturday. NEVER catch the 9-9:30am base camp lift, you could be in line anywhere form 30mins to 1hour! :RantExplode: If you're going to Northstar on Saturday, either get there before 9am, or after 10am.

Kirkwood - Easily the best mountain. Downside is that, it can be out of the way depending where you are. Also, 88 is a death road when conditions get bad.
Heavenly didn't seem too moguly to me...
Yah there are some flats - but they got some pretty awesome bowls (Mott and Milkyway) if there's enough snow.

Thing is - I don't think Heavenly's had a pipe unfortunately..., wonder if they've built one for this season?? Park areas even open yet?

It was to me, maybe I just had a knack of picking mogul-only trails. But it was definitely flatter than just about every other mountain in Tahoe.

I would tend to wait for my buddies if the trail split, to make sure the group stay intact... And that's when I get stuck in the flats... $%^&*() :RantExplode:

+1 on all of that.

The ritz carlton crowd at northstar is also pretty annoying. I avoid it like the plague. Squaw is better but prices are crazy.
