I went to Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood last season and Kirkwood was by far my favorite. Once you go to Kirkwood, you wont want to go to Heavenly or Northstar again.
Yeah basically just a short runlong run - or repeating the same 1 minute bit?
Went to Heavenly today and the ticket was still $90 even tho there was only two lifts open. But atleast the runs were super long and the snow was nice.Overheard some tourist at Loveland today complaining about paying $92 for a lift ticket at Vail yesterday.
It was to me, maybe I just had a knack of picking mogul-only trails. But it was definitely flatter than just about every other mountain in Tahoe.Heavenly didn't seem too moguly to me...
Yah there are some flats - but they got some pretty awesome bowls (Mott and Milkyway) if there's enough snow.
Thing is - I don't think Heavenly's had a pipe unfortunately..., wonder if they've built one for this season?? Park areas even open yet?
+1 on all of that.Heavenly - Don't go unless ALL of your friends are skiers. It's flat as hell, where it's not flat, it's moguls from hell.
Northstar - One of the closer resorts to SF/Bay Area, making it perfect for day trips. But for the same reason, it's packed every Saturday. NEVER catch the 9-9:30am base camp lift, you could be in line anywhere form 30mins to 1hour! :RantExplode: If you're going to Northstar on Saturday, either get there before 9am, or after 10am.
Kirkwood - Easily the best mountain. Downside is that, it can be out of the way depending where you are. Also, 88 is a death road when conditions get bad.
