I'm looking fly somewhere during summer for a couple days to hold me off until next winter. I live in Socal and just got done my first 30+ day season, and I'm gonna go crazy if I have to wait until Nov/Dec to ride again.

I've never been out of country so NZ seems like a pain (passports, distance, etc). Mt Hood is so close, but it seems that the nearest airport is an hour away from the resort. Idk any other options available. Does anyone have any experience flying to a resort during the US summer season?

Hood is the easiest option. Fly in, rent a car, drive an hour straight to the resort. That airport is by far the easiest airport I've ever gone to and from for getting to a mountain. NZ you're going to spend a whole day flying and pay out the ass, then to get to the hills you're going to be trying to figure out a few serious logistics to get up there and where you're going to stay.

Rent a 15 passenger Econoline van, bring a sleeping bag and crash in the parking lot, the lodge serves breakfast, Government camp is just down the road (cool place to hang, eat, drink etc), thats my kind of trip

NZ is amazing. Every snowboarder should check it off the bucket list. If you're lucky, conditions will be great and you'll have the trip of a lifetime.

I can vouch for this, done most of my riding in Europe, but moved to NZ recently, you might not get the most epic powder but in terms of whole experience (scenery, range of resorts, the people, lift queues, scary access roads, heli boarding, queenstown) it is a must see and do for your summer.
