Anyone still riding?

Getting colder in Australia/NZ but still a couple of months away from our season.

Interested to see if anyone is still riding mid May and in what country. Pretty sure Japan has been shut for awhile.
I know US had an awesome season but thought EU had the opposite? Is everything shut yet?

Europe had a bad start but a great finish to the season. Hintertux is open all year and it looks like the middle of February up there right now.

I was in Oslo for closing weekend but the video below was shot a few weeks after that. I think a lot of places had to close with lots of snow due to staff and planning but theres plenty fun to be had for those who want to hike.

This weekend is the Riksgränsen Banked Slalom. A huge chunk of the snowboard industry goes up there in May every year to ride in the midnight sun, party and hit massive quarterpipes. Some years there is even powder. It's really far north, just on the border between Sweden and Norway, near Narvik and Lofoten where there is some great freeriding at this time of year.

Hintertux all year?? Bloody hell, must be cold there. I didn't think that exists except maybe in Antartica
It's just a high altitude glacier. I've ridden pow there in July and August.

Timberline in Oregon USA is open basically year round, shut down for a month or so of maintenance in the fall but thats it. US has a fair number of ski resorts still going, we'll have multiple option all the way through July.

Even though the resorts are still open in Colorado my heart is not in snowboarding anymore. Time to do summer stuff.
The PNW will have snow for a while in some places. Blackcomb will close this coming Monday. Whistler has been closed for a month now. Baker will have snow for touring. At this point it’s all splitboarding unless I road trip to Timberline. Last Sunday I was touring in the AM at Mt Seymour just outside Vancouver followed by an afternoon at the beach. It’s easy when you can see where you live from the slopes  2.5 hrs skinning up and 15 minutes riding down. But the views are worth it!

Not at the moment. Waiting for Beartooth pass in Mt/Wy. border to open this memorial weekend to start spiltboarding with my new Sashimi split.
I’m still riding at Mammoth Mountain, California. Snow is great - soft, slushy conditions + excellent coverage all over the mountain.

Mammoth should be open till end July… although there has been a warming trend in the Western US recently which could accelerate snowpack reduction. Still a ton of snow to melt though - I think the primary concern now is flooding.

Wow, fascinating! Great hear the rest of the world still have opportunities to snowboard even this late in the season. Appreciate the feedback :)
France resorts are closed for the most part, Les deux Alpes glacier, which will push till late june/july. Tignes galcier will only open on June 17th (dosen't make any sense anymore 🤷‍♂️). If you skin though, there were plenty of pow to get up high and it's still very good. Late may/early June will probably be really good for high alping missions.
Just had Day 92 at Alpine Meadows. Palisades and Alpine (and Mammoth) all have great spring skiing, which should continue well into July. The mountain bike trails are drying out, and motivation for riding is starting to wane though.

Can you say a bit more about riding there in summer? I did Hintertux at the end of October 22 and it was really bad. Not much open and very bumpy from late morning.
Still riding, but only split and booting up. There is a lot of snow in the bc and some of the resort parks are still rideable when we hike up. Summer resorts open late may/early June. Can't wait for them to open.
Japan had a bad start and an extremely early ending (practically no snow in niseko by early April). Pretty bad season overall

Yeah, September to November it can be as cold as winter but minus the snow. ICY.
I've been there a lot in summer. During the lockdown a few years ago I spent a month sleeping in my car in the car park and riding every day. For a summer glacier it has a lot of terrain where most places just have a few runs, slalom gates for ski training and if you are lucky, a park. The snow is usually classic summer: slightly hard in the morning, softening up to full on slush by the afternoon. I have had pow days in summer too. 10-40cm overnight is not totally uncommon and while not ultra-light blower pow all day it is still great for the first few hours at least. There is good, accessible off-piste but it is a glacier so crevasses are a real threat. I've had to ollie a few big surprise cracks that gave me pause for thought. There should hopefully be a lot of terrain open this summer due to late season snowfall. It really still looks like winter up there.
There is a big cafe/restaurant with a huge deck at 2600m that has cheap gulasch or other soup for vegetarians and reasonably priced beer. Summer is nice because you can ride in the morning then spend the afternoon in shorts, mountain biking, hiking, bathing in the waterfall, skateboarding in the car park or just relaxing in the sun (usually). The main business is ski teams training who each book a lane of slalom gates, otherwise there aren't that many people around and half of them are hikers. Queues are not a thing. I love it as I get the all-round nature mountain experience without the crowds, plus the alpine meadows and forests in their summer clothing are really beautiful. I can highly recommend it!

Have you done any mountain biking there? I'm considering taking kids and sharing time between snow fun and e-mountain biking.
Heading to Mammoth this weekend for memorial day
