Bindings for a Jones MT?

Looking at grabbing an upgraded board for this year (my last one is a 10 year old Burton Clash). Planning for a Jones MT and considering a few bindings. Would love your thoughts. Boot are Burton Rulers
.
  • Rome Katana (a bit expensive, but sounds like everyones incredibly happy with these)
  • Burton Cartel X (apparantly a do-everthing binding, so in case i ever need to switch boards, I may be able to reuse these bindings for something else).
  • Union Atlas (seen some folks mention this one, not too sure)
  • Jones Mercury / Now (Heard good things about the skatetech and responsiveness here).

I'm leaning towards the Katana or the Cartel x.

Any insights on what would work well for me? I'm a stronger intermediate boarder, all-mountain + side hits / powder, no specific desire to hit the park and the closest I'll go to freestyle may be some switch / butters.

Thank you!

Katana or the Bataleon version called the Astros.
I also love my Rome vice bindings. They're the same as katanas but with a slightly softer highback and a lower price tag.

Bataleon Chaos, Katana, Arbor Cypress, Jones Meteorite, Now Pilot, Rome Vice, Bent Metal Transfer, or Rome DOD.

Not gonna be bummed with any of those. Depending on size I may be able to source some of those from last year as well.

Atlas rode harsh as hell to me, not a fan. I am effectively boycotting Burton bindings outside of EST until they get rid of the base wing at the heel. Also Cartel X are good, but not great at anything. Burtons are just kinda meh in my personal opinion. Drives would be fine, but I just kinda like the Pilot straps better. Those Chaos are very similar to the Vice, but with a slightly stiffer highback. Similar straps and same frame though.

Interesting, I've been wondering about the Chaos, but they market them as a straight up park binding so I wrote them off as too soft. I've tried the Blasters (insanely soft highback) and just picked up a pair of Astros for this season.
Remember whos marketing it though. Bataleon has shit like the the Camel, Cruiser, Carver etc, but their bread and butter is still park rats.

Yeah, I just mean within their binding hierarchy they don't make sense. They say:

Chaos = softest binding, specific for park (you say is stiffer than the Vice)
Blaster = mid flexing all mountain freestyle (I found to be MUCH softer than the VIce)
Astro = mid-stiff flexing all mountain (feels very similar to my Vice/Katana)
Atom = stiff all mountain (haven't tried)
It's been a minute since I put hands on these, and I saw them pretty early on. Could be they changed stuff since I last touched them. But it was supposed to theoretically be the Chaos was a vice without pivot mount. The Astro basically a Katana without the pivot, fancy foam, or multitude of adjustments. And the Blaster was effectively DOD. But I don't think when I say them they had talked about doing asym and full frames for each so hey, maybe I'm way off now! I'll try them in a few weeks to straighten it all out.

Looking forward to your thoughts! Really digging mine so far. I definitely agree with Avran on the Astro straps being really comfortable.
You might want to check out the Union STR. Medium stiff binding that offers great bang for the buck. I've used the STR and the Force for years and been pleased with both. The STR would be a very good binding for a strong intermediate all mountain rider, especially at 120 less than the Atlas.
I own now drives, katanas and old cartels from before X was introduced. I vote Now drive! Katanas are good too if you want more lateral(?) flex/movement and a bit more board feel in comparison. Drives are the most comfortable and shock absorbing bindings I ever tried - makes my feet less tired on hard snow days.

We had about 4 or 5 pairs of STRs warranties last year for broken frames.
