I finally live near mountains and am able to go snowboarding on the reg. This is my first true season with my own gear. Solved the main issue of wearing boots way too big (women's size 9 to Ride 7.5---they were a gift and ordered online so I didn't try on in store).

First short run in my setup with new boots felt so good--I finally understood why people love snowboarding. Then the bindings problem again reared its head. I have M3 Luna bindings; got them with the 9 boots but was having this problem with those too. They definitely are at the very edge of being too big for my new Ride boots but I've adjusted it all as best as possible.

The issue is that halfway down a run all of a sudden my back foot has almost no control of the board. The bindings feel soo loose; I have to cinch them all the way down at the beginning and then halfway down I can cinch them down a few more clicks it seems. What's going on? Then even after I fix them half way down that lack of control continues.

Any help is much much appreciated. Thanks!

Are they actually loosening significantly? Or are you perhaps not getting your heel all the way back into the binding when strapping in? If your boot shifts back during the run, it'll have the effect of loosening the straps. That would explain why it's the back foot that does this.

See if you can mark the straps or count the ladder teeth or something. Establish a pattern. Does it happen every run?

I am assuming you have the size M binding, so your 7.5 boots should fit. There could be a couple of things. I glanced at a few pictures of those bindings online, but have never seen them in person. First off, they are labeled as a 4 out of 10 in stiffness, so they are pretty soft. 2nd, do you have the inside ladders set up so that the strap is near the base of the teeth (outside ladders take the ratchet)? 3rd, You may have a bad ratchet, I have experienced that in the past where it wouldn't hold the teeth on the ladder and slip a few.

Lastly, once you have them tight, could it just be your skill level?

It's pretty common for bindings to loosen up if when you fastened it first time they are not all the way.
This happens more frequently if you have aggressive forward lean on the highbacks. The shape of the boots does not want to be seated all the way in until you flex your knee.
