2716 Views 12 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Kenai
so i bought my first board thinking my shoe size was my usual 44 and ordered mission reflex bindings size L (43plus). Should i return and switch the bindings to M size? How can i tell if my bindings are too big? with boots like burton swath with footprint reduction size 43.5, is there a huge noticeable difference? plz someone help me out

Wait.... You're asking about Burton boots for Burton bindings??

That size info should be readily available on BURTONS site!! :facepalm3:
My bad!! :facepalm2:

I forgot that friggin' Burton does that stupid overlap deal when giving binding sizes for boots.

"8-11=M. 10+ =L???? :WTF:

Most confusing bit of customer service I've ever seen.

IMO,.. at a size 11 M bindings are just too small. The straps require being adjusted so far to one side that they really don't sit well, (...read comfortably) on the boots any longer.

Then,.. if you've got some sort of shrink tech to the size 10-11 boots,.. their soles are sometimes too small for the L baseplates.

Again,.. I own both M's & L's in Burton bindings. I have size 10 32 Binary Boas and my Cartels work best for me with M base and L straps.

YMMV.

I think the pics work now
From the pictures you posted you are totally fine. You’ve been able to pretty much center your boots front/back.

The larger issue is your comment about the gap between your boot and the sides of the bindings. If you really have a 1” gap (how big is your thumb) then you probably want a smaller binding because you are going to crank your straps too tight to keep the boots from moving around.

Boot looks centered, so that is a good start. Hopefully the boots fit and your feet are also centered on the board.

But the bindings are quite big for the boots. No pics of the 'side gap', but the base plate is quit long compared to the boot sole. That is why the general guidance from Burton is to use medium size bindings with Burton US11 boots.
Thanks for the input! :) its my first setup so i really have no clue what im doing, but i can basicly fit my thumb between the binding and boot at the front strap level (thumb high wise) and at midway between the binding and boot by the width of my thumb. Not sure if i want a "snug fit" and if my bindings are now too big in L size since as you said i got them centered pretty well....

Will it work, sure. Should you exchange for M bindings if you can easily, yes.
