Whilst I've become a big fan of the Gig Bag for the ultimate padded snowboard protection off the mountain, Burton start their full cover range with the Space Sack which is basically a no frills shell carry case. In between the Space Sack and the Gig Bag, Burton have the Board Sack which is a partially padded (underside floor area only) option however I'm not sure why you'd run with this alternative over the superior protection of the Gig Bag for only a few extra dollars. As of YOM '23 it appears Burton have dropped the middle range Board Sack from their inventory.

So for those on a budget..., let's have a closer look at the Burton Space Sack as an affordable Snowboard bag option.

The Burton Space Sack Snowboard bag sits at the bottom of the range with by today's standards, still a reasonable pricey $Au109.99 RRP ($US79.95 RRP) @2023 season. However,, as mentioned in the Burton Gig Bag Review, if you don't abuse it, it's more than likely just a one-off purchase.

The Burton Space Sack snowboard bag has a tapered shaped height being narrower on either of the tip and tail ends at 5cm and rising to a thicker central 18cm around the middle of the binding area. The Burton Space Sack bag is generally designed for 1 x snowboard with attached bindings however you could layer up 2 to 3 boards internally with no bindings fitted. It's made with a strong and durable 600D polyester fabric with waterproof TPE (Thermoplastic elastomer) backing, but being an unpadded shell case it's not overly heavy at 860 grams [1.9lbs] @156.

I have a fair few Burton Space Sack Snowboard Bags (unpadded) which I use to cover snowboard when I layer them on top of each other in the Wheelie Gig when we travel overseas. Burton also make the Board Sack which is partially padded snowboard bag with only padding on the bottom face and an unpadded side and top.

The central carry handle has 2x 50mm nylon straps that frame across the top and bottom sides joining together with a heavy duty Velcro padded handle. The main compartment area of the Burton Space Sack Bag is accessed by twin bi-directional heavy duty zips with added TSA-approved padlock-ability.

The zippers glide effortlessly around both the top and bottom ends of the Space Sack Bag enabling the bag to be opened up completely on a single hinge line. This allows your snowboard to be entered in easily by either sides or through the top entry area.

There is only a single integrated unpadded carry handle on one end of the Burton Space Sack Snowboard Bag. The Space Sack, unlike the more well equipped Burton Gig bag is pretty Spartan and has no additional accessory carry pocket.

So the Burton Space Sack is a superb lightweight unpadded snowboard bag best suited for domestic use. It's fairly robust, well designed and constructed with all high quality materials to protect your snowboard from damage. However..., if you can stretch your finances to a full padded bag it's definitely a wiser way to go.

A nice "Space" for your Board to live in. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
