After you've dealt with another member in Buy & Sell, post your experience (positive or negative) here.

Are all you guys setting up or using Paypal accounts to arrange payment etc? What about paying for shipping etc? I have a pair of like new '12 Faction boa boots I was considering selling so I've been curious for a while how most members here deal with buying, selling online from people unknown.

I'm even more so now, as I may find myself in genuine need of selling some stuff in the not too far future! Any unusually complicated pro's, con's, advice I should really know before considering attempting an online sale? (Btw,.. if this needs to go in a separate thread, lmk! I will delete and repost this elsewhere!)

Thanks!
I used PP for the transactions I bought on here. I think it really takes trust anymore that someone won't reverse a transaction or pull the "not delivered" crap on you. I like to PM and get an idea and make sure the seller has my info before I purchase, that way it doesn't seem cryptic or shady. If I'm interested I give my name address and all to them before purchase. But trust is a big part of it. I personally won't buy from someone where their first post is a sale item. A lot of forums have a minimum forum posting rule before allowing selling too (say 50 real posts in the forum before selling.) Same with buying. If someone's first post is asking to buy from you and their profile is blank and name is just garbled junk, I would personally ignore them as that could be a red flag, much like the arguments above about extremely similar accounts after someone is banned. Kenai almost shipped that board without my payment in the bank I think, that's how much communication went on between he and I because I was out of town and trying to purchase it from him. But the whole Paypal payment reversal thing really is shady when people do it.. consider signature delivery at their expense if you deal with someone not really known on the forum. That proves it was delivered and the only way that Paypal will accept proof of delivery (delivery confirmation does NOT count... must have a signature.) That's my two cents.. hope it helps.

Bought a pair of Forum Republick bindings from Maierapril.

Product as advertised, if not in better condition. Process was super smooth - paid via paypal, he shipped them out a day later.
Thanks Snowbeard!

Snowbeard really hooked me up with a killer Travis Rice Pro HP, 157 and is a fantastic seller.

Thanks again!
Just noticed this thread up here...

I bought a board from West Baden Iron last summer and everything went smoothly.
Sold two boards to BigAl this weekend. After exchanging a few messages I found his family lived nearby and was able to make a cash sale when they were in town. Good people.
Got a Stepchild OG Powder and some Burton Cartels from Timmytard.

Quality stuff. Good transaction. Good dude. Made a deal to throw in some outerwear too.

No no, there was no deal to throw some outerwear:eyetwitch:

I tossed in an extra jacket, solely because I'm fuckin' RAD.

No other reason than that.

Just sold that Arc-Teryx jacket with some burton pants to a different forum member
He'll be gettin' free brand new gloves for his ball & chain.:jumping1:
A nice little get out of jail card perhaps? Mwa ha ha ha

TT

There may be less bonus prizes though?
I quoted rpadc $50 to ship it, & it turned out costing $96 bucks.
Still only charged him the $50 I quoted though.

Double burn, it cost me $46 bucks.
Just to give that jacket away for FREE

Sorry for the inaccuracy. And that you got dinged on the shipping. I was tapped out by that point and had to hold to your original quote. Hope karma rewards you for the good will.

At least the jacket bombed down a volcano in Chile.

Glad to see you used it @ least.
I used it this spring as well, it's a pretty sweet little jacket.
Folds up to about the size of your wallet:eyetwitch:

I was checkin' out some of the pics, no OG?
Don't tell me you left it @ home?

The OG came all the way to Chile and stayed in the bag with a fresh coat of wax. No pow. No new snow at all. Low coverage. Still fun, but it killed me that huge storms came in as I was leaving. The folks that did the long trip had a whole mountain to themselves with dumping pow.
Bought from t-blizzard about a month ago. Good dude, fast shipping, and great communication.
Sold a Demon d3o body armour jacket to emt.elikahan.

Perfect transaction.
Would deal with again readily.
Multiple Reviews

Over the past couple of months I purchased stuff from a few members here. Lately I've really been enjoying the whole 'buying barely used gear for a fraction of the price!' I bought:
a mountain twin from Bertieman
malavitas from ekb18c
and a d30 jacket from GreyDragon.
All transactions have been quick and smooth without any problems. Would deal with all of them again!
Bought cartels 2014 from alxmlr789 prompt replies and fast shipping. Came exactly as the pictures were, no base plates/screws missing. Probably the shortest conversations through pm's by both parties. Good buy.
Tried to buy Cartels RE:Flex version from SnowDogWax, began communications with the dude a month ago, middle of November. Extremely spotty communications. He had originally posted in a thread of mine saying he had some Cartels RE:Flex to sell. I then PM'd SnowDogWax about their status.

He said they're available and I replied back saying I'd take them. Several inquiries later, I received no responses from SnowDogWax. Later on, I found he had started a new For Sale thread for the very same Cartels we started our communications on. I had to post in his thread to ask him specifically to check his PM's and respond to my inquiries. This was 1-2weeks after our initial communications. SnowDogWax responded by saying he'll have to check on the shipping costs. I responded by saying please let me know as soon as he knows about the shipping costs. This was a week or 2 prior to Thanksgiving 2015.

Today, I sent SnowDogWax YET another PM to see if these are still available. He responded back by telling me that these have been sold. WOW. After nearly a month of communications, mostly from my end, he had sold these bindings. And of course he hasn't updated his own For Sale thread yet. He's now adding to his lies and BS. He just responded back to me and said they're pick-up ONLY, when in one of the rare communications from him, he'd check on the shipping cost (again, he never got back to me), and even his own For Sale thread doesn't say pick-up ONLY.

This is from our PM's: This was back in November 15th 2015, and it was the last communication from him until I PM'd him again today, December 9th 2015:

chi sin lo is upset because I sold the Cartel bindings I had here in Colorado. I have 7 PM's from him today. I pleaded Colorado vacation insanity asked for forgiveness. Told him I had 2 NEW pairs of Cartels in Pittsburgh & was leaving Copper Friday and would ship him a pair. :dizzy::shithappens: while on vacation....

You couldn't tell me you were on vacation? You know, you could have slipped me that information in the mist of all the PM's I sent you.

You going on vacation is not my problem. And if you are going to be on vacation, then don't tell people you'll sell this or that, and you'll check the shipping costs on this and that. Yeah, shit happens on vacation. That's why you let the person know.

I'm done communicating with you man. We started discussing this in the middle of November. A WHOLE FUCKING MONTH ago. I have better luck talking to Comcast than to you. Communicating to you is like praying to God, who knows if I'm going to hear back or not. You've wasted enough of my time already and I'm going to exercise my patience somewhere else.

I don't know if I want to start another discussion with you. You know, PM's, something you need to respond to. They're kind of like emails but restricted to these forums. And you said you'll "ship" them, how do I know that's not code for "Pick-up ONLY"?

Hey fuckface, let me tell you I'll sell you something, tell you the shipping costs and everything, and then disappear.

Mind your own business.
