Custom Insoles for Rental Boots?

Hey guys. What's the common thinking regarding custom insoles for rental boots? I assume it's not a common question as most rentals are short term but I'm renting boots for the whole season and have been dealing with foot pain. I've been experimenting with different factors and luckily I've been able to reduce the pain greatly with various adjustments such as binding tightness, type of binding toe strap, and yesterday I used DIY heel locks for the first which made a nice difference as well. I'm considering custom insoles as well but I'm not sure if it makes sense to do so with rental boots. When making custom insoles, is the boot that they are used in considering in their shaping? For example, if next season I buy my own boots would it be best to get new insoles made with those boots in mind or would it make no difference to use insoles from this season?

A bit of info regarding the foot pain:
Firstly, I have fairly flat feet. The pain starts at the balls of my feet and works it way up to the top side of my foot just above the ball. I then feel pain down the outer edge of my foot, ankles, and outer side of the leg which I think is the peroneus muscle. However, the pain was mostly concentrated in the outer edge of the foot.

It's my first season (I've done about 20-25 days) so I can't rule out poor technique. With that being said, I've read about weight distribution and pronation of the foot so I try to be conscious of that while riding. However, the fact that various tweaks with my equipment have helped tremendously makes me think it's more equipment related than technique/conditioning.

Also, in case I'm lucky enough to have Wired come by and help troubleshoot: I'm wearing K2Maysis size 28cm. My feet are both 27.9cm long. My right foot is 10cm wide and the left is 10.1cm wide.

Rental boots, the whole season, and you are having trouble with them, seriously? Mate, compromise on other things in need but get your own boots fitted by someone who knows what they are doing and stop dicking around with rental shit. Sorry, not usually so forthright but if you want to enjoy snowboarding you need well fitted boots, even with normal feet! Frustrated me even writing that.
Your boots are the wrong size. Likely packed out being rentals and all. Just start hunting for the right size boots now and if you get custom insoles or cut to fit insoles it'll be for the correct boot.

Custom insoles are not cheap between $150-$200 you would definitely want them made to shape your own boot.

In mean time you can try off the shelf cut to shape insoles. One popular brand is superfeet.

But really ditch the rentals you'll enjoy the rest of the season so much more with boots that fit. Even if you paid for the rental and can't get a refund for the remainder it's still worth it to start hunting for boots now that fit right. Consider some sort of dual lacing system when on the hunt.

Maybe @Wiredsport has good input for you.

Insoles will probably make your boots fit better. Just from the sound of it, it seems like you could take up some volume in the boot as well. I'd go stand on various aftermarket insoles and get some that match your foot shape. Most people don't need custom insoles in boots, and they can create some tricky fitting issues. It's probably best to leave that to a professional.

25 days in...just buy some boots. But research and make sure you are getting a proper size and be prepared to mod...
