Hey,

I am currently riding a 156 Custom from 2006, I am looking to get a bigger board plus I am tired of fixing mine up.
Also note I'm 5'7" 210lbs.

I am looking at either a Custom X or Custom V.

I mainly do all mountain on the Ice Coast, few jump here are there. I am never in powder.
I am a solid intermediate rider.

Reason I am stuck choosing is I have never ridden a board with rocker nor a hybrid so I am afraid it won't be as responsive as my Custom. Also, I am worried the Custom X will be too responsive, I am semi-sloppy rider, I am pretty back foot heavy. Also, I have a messed up knee (that I am really trying to fix) but I heard the X is a knee killer.

They are very different boards. If I was looking for a single board for the type of all mountain riding I do neither would be ideal - the X being too burly and the V too girly.
Why so hung up on Burton? There are so many decent boards available. Go wild. Run fee. I actually think the straight Custom is a better fit that'd just be boring right?
Why not look for a mid stiff CRC board with a touch of edge tech for extra ice grip?
As ridinbend said no one can tell what you're going to enjoy. Some people can't stand CRC - I think it's the most 'fun' profile - but I also like RCR and camber as well, just for more 'serious' riding.

I have the custom currently. I just cant see spending that much on the same type of board.

I was looking at the Lib Tech T.Rice Pro HP. I just always liked Burton.

What do you mean by the X to burly and the V to girly?

I like Burton too. I still ride my '08 Custom when cover is thin and I've got Burton bindings on both my newer boards. Point is I tried a few other bindings and just ended up back with Burton because I liked them more.

I'm not a Lib fan, I liked how the TRS rode but thought it was too expensive for the construction used. Arbor, Flow, Rome, Ride, Salomon, K2, Yes, Smokin, Jones, Rossignol and plenty more I forgot all make really solid boards. Many that are better value than Lib or Burton. Just my opinion though.

If I could only have one board the X would be great for bombing and carving but too unforgiving and not playful enough plus hard work in powder, moguls and trees (too burly). The Flying V would be much more fun and closer to what I'm looking for just a touch too soft and not quite responsive enough (so maybe not too girly just an otherwise standup guy with a spray tan and eyeliner). I haven't tried one for a couple of years though. Isn't the the Custom FV the most common board in the world? Fuck that. Baaaah. Anyway what am I going on about?

it depends on how you like to ride. the custom x is an aggressive board. it will be better for going fast and carving. it will also handle ice better. the flying v is more forgiving and will be easier to maneuver. it won't carve or handle ice as well as the custom x.
