DC snowboard help

ok so i just got a 2010 dc pbj last week. i took it out for the first time and soon after noticed a chip in the top layer on the back of my board. i talked to some people at the mountain and they said dc might let me return it and send me a new one/fix it? does anyone know if this is true. and if not whats best to do.
