Epic's pass for 23/24 has been available for purchase for about a week now. (you can check that out here).

Vail's devouring of the local community is controversial at best, and Ikon seems to be a bit better about it. East Coast folks: what's your plan for next season? If I understand correctly, Ikon is kind of worthless to us. Epic's east coast- oriented value pass seems like the smart purchase.

I'm planning on lots of day trips next season (I'm near DC - so PA, WV), and at least one weekend trip to: Vermont (to see real stuff on the east coast), Utah (family, and real stuff), and Geneva (family, and real stuff with pinkies up).

I wish there was a way to support independent mountains without going completely broke, but it looks like the Epic Pass is the best buy for my situation. Anybody with more experience care to lend some guidance?

I opted for epic mid week northeast pass this year to save some money cause going on weekends is the absolute worst. Felt like I got my money's worth considering day passes were like $100 this year. The 5 free days at stowe/etc are pretty huge value since u can plan to go up after the local season closes.

I'm saving my PTO for a trip to Argentina (introducing fiancee to the extended family), so I feel like mid-week might be tricky for me to pull off. Definitely liking the sound of that stowe trip though so I'm keeping this on the table!

I get so annoyed at this because my family does an annual 10 day Vail trip because we've got a friend with a place there, but I live in Southern CA and all the local stuff is Ikon. Grrrr...

I agree, Ikon pass has better mountains in the north east than the Epic in my opinion. Stratton, Sugarbush, Loon, Sunday River, Sugarloaf. Some of those only give you a week of riding. Outside of Stowe there isn't any mountains on the Epic pass that really interest me. I'll be buying the Ikon pass again this year

lol I always forget NH exists! But all the more reason Ikon isnt worthless. I find Epic mountains to be overcrowded and generally have more of those people who ride with speakers in their backpacks and ditch beer cans on the mountain.

I don't think Ikon worthless. Stratton, Sugarbush, Killington (limited) Windham (limited).

There is also the Indy Pass, which is for...independent mountains.

I will be doing Ikon and Magic
I forgot about Indy - thanks for reminding me. I’ll have to see if they have a good deal for someone in my situation.

I refuse to buy Ikon or Epic, I just buy the Loveland pass here in CO and it has a shitton of good resorts that are almost never crowded. I used to think people didn't like Loveland because the chairs were slow or it was windy or whatever, but Im now realizing its because a lot of people dont want to do big mountain and/or want mellow trees.

I don't have much of an option due to my work situation, I can make it to Boston Mills, Brandywine, or Alpine Valley. I can't make the logistics work to go anywhere else more than one or two days which would never justify getting any type of pass. Snow Trails is too far for me also, but Vail has annoyed me of late so I might just not buy anything because of how I feel about Vail owned resorts. Maybe if I can manage a discounted Ohio pass I will get it, but definitely not at full price.

Epic Pass in Australia is definitely by far the best value for NSW and Vic resorts (Perisher/Blue Cow/Guthega/Smiggins, Falls Creek, Hotham) starting for early purchases at $Au899 ($US595) compared with Ikon (Thredbo/Mt Buller) which is around $Au1500 plus ($US995).
