I heard that CO has been having a decent season so far... I'm sure by Feb it'll be good. I am meeting friends there that go every year... ski in/ski out condo... I only have to buy my ticket and lift pass... and they are excited for me to bring some alaskan salmon and moose with me
I just moved to Anchorage from California to attend, decided to pick up snowboarding with the move. Turned out to be pretty good timing...
Bottom of chair 6
Top of chair 6
more from the top of 6, earlier in the day
and a shot from the drive on the seward highway because **** yeah alaska
And can I just say that, as someone in their first season, Alyeska blues are gnarly
Oh and these pictures were technically on one of the bad days, with no new snow. Still had a great time, I found some powder stashes off trail in the lower bowl and my more advanced friends tore up huge amounts of untracked pow off Max's traverse (Alyeska's southern peak)
It's online 60 bucks cheaper as a student or military. This time of year you'll pay around 100 a night for a hotel room. I have friends here so I always stay with them. The restaurants at the mtn are of course expensive but good. I'm headed there Saturday... I'd go tomorrow if I had a ride.
I have a friend that lives in Kodiak so on the way to him I was going to stop off at Alyeska. Planning on being there march 21st. Is it worth 2 days of riding or will I be happy with 1?
Never been off the east coast so really looking forward to the trip.
After a great - tho wet, lol - stay in PNW getting lots of verts into our legs we now arrived in the promised land of steep n deep.
However, the bad gut feel after frequent checks of weather forcast the last weeks came true. "Worst conditions in the Chugachs in 20y operating". Two weeks of...
In the midst of planning a trip there for sometime in February. Is there enough acreage/terrain to justify 3 consecutive day of riding? Or would 2 days be plenty? We generally spend most of our time in the trees and looking for pow stashes, so hopefully we're lucky enough to come during a storm...
Here we go again :jumping1:
Arrived in AK after an awsome "stop-over" in CO. First heli lifted off -flap-flap-flap - and the heart beat goes up already. So stoked for the next days!
Gear's ready for tomorrow - yay!
BTW: Our boards are the Jones' 156 Mothership, and 164 Carbon Flagship...
Anyone here knows how conditions look like in the Chugach Mountains?
I'm monitoring the weather on an app on Cordova (see level) and don't like what I've seen... seems pretty warm? Shouldn't it be way colder this time of year? Does it snow at the mountains? At which elevation is it snowing? Is...
